It looked like an FA cup 3rd round tie. Premier league team against a league 1 team. No shape, long balls and no threat in front of goal. It was a bit of a shambles and looked really messy.

Our back four can stand proud for what they had to deal with all night. Midfield were statues, sliced up into pieces for the entirety. Up front Mateta has to start, he's our only threat in the air. For the most part are forwards were ineffective and the few chances that came their way they fluffed! Big improvement needed all round.

Are you kidding? Mateta added nothing. At least Eduoard tested Ramsdale.

I thought that was the best I've seen Andersen play for us.

P*ssed off with that start to our season; everyone knows what flaky side Arsenal are but we didn't look properly prepared...

One thing I think we can all agree on, we definitely miss Gallagher’s energy, we were very laboured tonight and it was all a bit huff and puff going forward, but remember how we felt after the first game against Chelsea last season and how the season actually panned out, things can only get better!!

We need certain players to fire and the likes of Eze, Wilf and the two forwards had poor games tonight.
The timing of Benteke's departure is odd given that we knew at the end of last season that an upgrade was probably needed and his departure was a possibility - it also weakened the numbers for tonight.
You hope that there is a replacement incoming for him and the presence and strength of Kouyate hasn't yet been replaced either. It might also be an idea to blood a younger keeper like Butland or Johnstone as Guaita certainly isn't the answer, deflection or no tonight for the second goal, it was a poor one to be beaten in the gap at the near post and the square passing across the box and back is fraught with danger, his longer kicking being poor.

He missed a sitter mate. Your granny could have scored from there!

Parish needs to act now before we are cut even further adrift.

I missed the first half hour due to a family issue, the rest that I watched I was proud of the way we pressed and and attacked them no complaints from me the team were unlucky that’s football I think our team are defiantly better than arsenals , looking forward to our next games

Okay we looked tired and disjointed first half, we only had one true pre-season game. The second goal was critical, we came close and on another night Eze would get that but it went the other way.

No relegation worries but won't be pushing for Europe this year.

Impressed with Doucoure, Schlupp out of his dept (again) in midfield, too much side/backpassing even when 0-2 down. We'll come good when Ayew is rested together with Schlupp - Andersen's long balls exceptional. But again, sloppy on corners and we pose little threat when we have them.
Anfield next, won't be any easier...
