I got the feeling that Butland got some games so he could be properly evaluated.

And we are now seeing the result of that evaluation.

VG is 36 next birthday and Palace needed to get a successor lined up. The opportunity to sign Johnstone was too good to miss I think.

Perfectly reasonable interpretation that. For me Butland is an ok keeper, nothing more.

Also agree. I'd expect VG will see out his contract but try and get his Valencia move lined up.

Expect we'll see VG start the season with Johnstone getting more game time as the season goes on. Hopefully he proves that he's good enough for het no1 jersey in 23/24

Neither Guaita nor Butland are comfortable with PV's system of playing out from the back. Johnstone, though, is likely to be better in that system.

Don't bank on it.
Saw some west brum fans saying he was dogshyte with the ball at his feet, kicking terrible.
