If the Ukraine had undergoing a blight of crop failure and then blamed it on the Russians, yes that would be propaganda.

That didn't happen in the Ukraine, the Russians deliberately collectivised the farms and knew precisely what was happening.

There was no environmental cause to the Holodomor. It was an entirely man made genocide. That's been officially recognised worldwide at the UN....with the Russians signing.

The Irish famines weren't caused by the British, that's just factual. I don't think this absolves the British of some responsibility in later governance.

From what I've looked at that's my honest appraisal.

the crop was blighted across Europe. The Governmental reactions in France, Belgium and Scotland were in stark contrast to Ireland.

There was hunger, but no genocide.

The recent War in the Balkans had starvation, and do not be surprised if it rears its ugly head in Ukraine again.

The Irish famine killed no more than 500 thousand probably closer to 400. I heard that was due to the 'Great Frost' destroying the crops rather than the British deliberately killing Irish. Once the better weather returned the famine was over.

Where's the evidence that the British set out to starve the Irish?

Take your time to read the parliamentary records from that time, in black and white they turned their back, read about the the “famine roads” educate yourself it was a disgraceful time, oh and by the way the Protestants in the North did not go hungry strange or what

anyways..... regarding the military build up in Ukraine, i am very worried for its ramifications for the next Eurovision Song contest.

Hmm, not on the 'Costa's' there's not. The average Ruski, like you & i, is not allowed to take money out of Russia to buy property & a lot of estate agents over here won't deal with them nor accept their money.

The super rich, well, that's another story. . .

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

You could link to it.

The comparison was made to the Holodomor, a deliberate man made famine killing many millions. My replies were within that context.

If there was evidence that the English deliberately targeted the Irish for starvation I would like to see it as the truth is better than bias.

Here is a reference link to this time which doesn't deal in these claims.

to deny British complicity in the Irish Famine is as bad as holocaust denial. It was a deliberate genocide - and it really did happen. Troop numbers were dramatically increased....and they were high even before the famine.

Catholic Ireland was always seen as the weak link in the british Empire....a landing ground for French/Spanish armies.

Like the American Indians, the natives were seen as a nuisance that was 'getting in the way of progress'.

the Brits 'Final Solution' to the irish question was an attempt to genocide the locals and to colonize the whole island. As had already happened in Ulster.

Scotland, Wales & protestant Ulster all survived the Famine relatively unscathed.

That is a wordpress article, where is the actual evidence that the British deliberately starved the Irish?

If you are going to give me 'final solution' stuff that I want hard evidence. Even from what I've researched that's clearly nonsense. You previously wrote that it wasn't a genocide and now you do.

If you are going to talk genocide, where is the UN resolution backing this?

Anyone see Rise Of The Nazis-Dictators At War on TV last night?

We all know the history, but a well put together documentary nonetheless. And spookily close to how things are looking in Ukraine.

There's something Stalinesque about Vlad.

Well take an educated guess, potato blight also affected the uk, it did not affect, cattle, sheep, pigs, apples, chickens, pears other vegetables etc etc but a million people died or were displaced in only one place Catholic Southern Ireland the very same blight disease did not cause starvation anywhere else in the UK, Also ships were leaving Cork on a weekly basis taking beef to British troops stationed in India, fact, whilst people, catholics were dying
UN was not about in the 1840s, plus the uk can if it so wishes block any decisions, called the veto, Russia keeps using it

Again, I'm happy to look at established evidence that shows the British deliberately starved the southern Irish in the mid 1800s.

While I don't know, I have little doubt that the parliament in England placed less priority on southern Irish because they were catholics.

However, once again....and I really have to stress this, mainly due to the comparisons with deliberate man made genocides of many millions....The British did not cause the potato blight.

I'll repeat once newly developed fertilizer came about they were used to eradicate them as a threat.....once again, why would that be done if the British wanted to starve the Irish.

The UN wasn't about for Hitler's or Stalin's genocides either. If the British have blocked resolutions again....I'm happy to look at the evidence for this.

Whatever is true does need recognition and that's fair enough.
