People can complain about burger munching or drinking alcohol all they like...personally if it's advice or moaning then that's fair enough. However, I'm not going to agree with those who think that different personal health decisions should transfer into life restrictions. Perhaps some people should just let the state run their lives...let the man on the telly talk about science and just nod along. That's cool, until they agree with forcing everyone else too under pain of life restrictions. That's stepping towards a western form of social credit system....and they don't really have a leg to stand on after that. At least in the UK...the flame of libertarianism still lives in parts of the Tory party...even if it's heat is somewhat diminished. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Jan 2022 10.30am)

My wife is a nurse on a cardiac ward in a large hospital so she isn't on the front line of critical care. Last week they admitted a patient to her ward who hadn't been vaccinated but who had contracted covid on top of the existing heart problems resulting in all of the nurses on that ward catching it and now having to self isolate. Wifey has had all three vaccinations but is still quite badly ill although not ill enough for hospitalisations thank goodness so the unvaccinated are affecting others

Like I say, if so then you can't really complain later down the pipe. Everyone who's day to day job involves the public is going to pick up this virus, unvaccinated or vaccinated. Your wife went into nursing, I went into teaching. Both are professions that open you up to unfiltered exposure to whatever is going round. It's not a pick and choose job....nursing more so as you're exclusively dealing with the ill. That's an implied deal we make when the profession is chosen....we don't for example, join the army and then blame the enemy for fighting us. I was in hospital just recently and while I wasn't there to talk about covid I can tell you that when it did come up views differ and there is disquiet over moves towards mandated vaccination from some. The direction this thread has taken goes to show how Djokavic's behaviour has deflected media attention away from what should be the first major sporting competition of the year. If he does get his way and plays, he'll find a pretty hostile reception from the crowd I suspect. His competitors will be none too chuffed with him either.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Quite rightly and long overdue too.

He would have had no preparation, so may as well go home. I doubt he'll compete there next year.

Got what he deserves... he’s a joke... I would think it’s extremely unlikely he’ll be allowed into the French either unless he gets vaccinated... Wimbledon should do the same...

These are no longer 'opens' then and shouldn't be billed as such. If the best player in the world isn't allowed to compete then the sport makes a mockery of its rankings.
