JK Rowling in the news again today - the story is around the allegedly anti-semitic imagery in the movies with the portrayal of the bank-teller goblins. Starting to sympathise with the idea she's being very harshly treated. When they explained what it was I had to laugh....I really hadn't noticed....It has really put their noses right out of joint. They are rank after her...It's so obvious and ridiculous.

Yeah it is all quite funny to me as well - someone has dug out the initial description of the goblins from the books (rather than films) and it's so harmless it's untrue.

To be fair to Jon Stewart, this whole JK Rowling anti semitism thing seems to be far more a journalistic hype job than it being anything he was seriously accusing her of. If someone famous cracks jokes on anything sensitive the MSM are going to head straight for the clickbait jugular. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Jan 2022 3.04am)

It looks like it was a lighthearted conversation taken completely out of context. I mean clearly he thinks there's something to the point he's making, but the ramping up of it was very much a creation for clicks. [Link] Stewart usually comes across as a thoughtful and sensible guy. He has his politics but generally appears to be person focused above and beyond that. His tireless decade long work to help the 9/11 first responders retain access to health care was a good example of the work he's willing to put in on others behalf [Link]
