No: 10 Media Advisor, Allegra Stratton, looks like she is toast. I wonder whether leak is deliberate attempt to get rid of an appointment that has provenly to be an expensive waste of time.

On a separate note, Gavin 'Dullard' Williamson now caught out for hosting XMAS Party last year. The 'Do-As -I-Say-Not-As-I-Behave' Whitehall culture alive and well again: [Link]

Possibly. Another explanation is that they are looking for a fall guy and she is it. The media are after a head. Why not give them someone from a team they are likely to dispense with? Off she goes, nothing further to see folks.

Although I am not sure it will be this time.

The irony is that she is probably completely innocent. Did she organise the party? No. Did she cause the PM to lie in answer to questions about it? No. Was she even there? She said she went home. No, her only crime appears to have been laughing. Not because she undervalued the offence; but because of the discomfort of playing "let's pretend". I would have laughed too.

Thus, women sacked for laughing!

Oh, and this affair does serve to distract attention from the Afghan issue. If there is no truth in this rumour then so be it. However, if lives were risked to save dogs over human allies at the request of the PM's wife, that is a straight red as far as I am concerned. At least Dominic Cummins had an official title with accountability. She has none. Legally and constitutionally this is a far more serious issue. It is just not as good a story.

Stratton is no longer working in No.10.

I think the general tone of the video takes the pi55 out of the general public.

I will watch PMQs and turn off the sound when the humble crofter speaks

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Was an open goal at PMQs for Keir Starmer but fair play to him for ramming it home over and over again. Embarrassing watching Johnson try and squirm his way out of it.

Just a tad annoying that it's come to this. After a raft of misdemeanours (the botched retreat from Afghanistan, coming to light this week), that this Government is being brought to book over a party.
Quite rightly so, the lying bar stewards.

And what probably pi5hes me off most, is I bet all the wine and cheese came courtesy of the taxpayer. check their expenses claims for "Business meeting sundries"

I disengage, I turn the page.

You are completely correct, this just carries more impact as it affected all of us in some way. Best case it was when we were all having to cancel our own Christmas plans last minute, worst case it was families prevented from being with dying loved ones. This isn’t just a political thing, it’s a human thing.

Boris 'furious' over party.

There might be two things he's furious about.

1. Being caught out lying about the tax-payer funded wine and cheese evening.

2. Not being invited

I disengage, I turn the page.

I am a Conservative supporter and a Boris fan but the sun is going down on him now.
He may not have known about the alleged party but in any event the people working for him shouldn't have done it and if it had been Thatcher in charge - for example - I suspect it would never have happened - they have no respect for anyone - maybe none of them do nowadays?
Boris is not leading anymore from what I can see and so should go asap.
As for my thoughts on the underlings and civil servants involved - I can't say what I think here.
They should be dismissed - and should have been a year ago - without a second thought.
The Civil Service is not neutral politically and is incompetent as has been proved by their actions in the Foreign Office recently.
I am not sure there is a politician of any party that I would trust to lead the country right now except maybe Sunak.
Hopefully that will happen.

Would you have broken the rules? Even if you knew they were allegedly having a party or would you have preferred to keep you and yours safe. Personally their safety was really at risk. If anything you and millions were safer by not allegedly partying.

As there is so much we could hold this incompetent CONservative government to, I thought I would just concentrate on the past month or two. The trying to save the mp who was at it by changing the rulesand getting the opposition to vote on a panel of 5 CONS to 2 opposition- that seems fair. The apologising for the Grenfell tragedy yesterday , knowing there donors were getting away with unsafe cladding- but not upsetting their paymasters. The Afghan situation, leaving 95% of our allies behind to face the tally, after telling them they would be saved, then helping load a plane of animals in front of human life. Finally,The party bungle, while people could not see their loved ones in hospital, 450 odd people died with covid on the day of the laughing interview! Cheese and wine, no social distancing-but students getting £10000 fines for having a party around the same time, and the whole cabinet denying a party existed- thats just whats come out in the past month or two, what on earth has happened to this country?

Unless he is a really greedy man- his £2000 million should be enough for him to just be happy doing the top job for the kudos and good of the people without having his hand in the till, although his sister did prophet from the PPE scandal.

Hahaha, don't you realise that if they get rid of Boris your chances of getting anyone into No.10 reduces still further as they will probably get someone far more competent in place.

Yeah, thats true, but I have given up on the working class people to do anything but know their place in society and tip cap now and again! We are a subservient country now more than ever, and historically vote CONservative, so I would prefer as decent a CON as you can get, and have a clear out of this entire cabinet. Start afresh, maybe Richi in charge, good CONS behind him,(they aren"t all thieving crooks), and start by holding a thorough police investigation-with the proceeds of crime people at the front, in to the missing £47 thousand million- that would be a statement of intent that even I would salute the CON pm for!
