This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Bumping this thread to comment that I miss Willo's posts, and I hope he decides to return. The board is more interesting when he's here.

Willo provides a touch of class. He does. He’s the Leslie Phillips to everyone else’s Sid James and Bernard Bresslaw. Not forgetting the occasional Kenneth Williams and Kenneth Connor. Becky must be Barbara Windsor.

Unfortunately, there were a few on here (and you know who you are) who were less than kind to Willo in their remarks. He tolerated it for a while in the spirit of jovial banter, but it became too much so he decided to pull the plug. I have been in contact with him a couple of times since he 'retired' and the following is an extract from his note to me last Friday. Gone are the days when this cherished site played a somewhat prominent part in my life as I spent many an hour partaking in discussions – HOL addiction! I am humbled and honoured to be informed that some still view me in a positive light but of course there are those who viewed me as a varmint, a scrivening dullard, a cure for insomnia, and could not warm to me if I was cremated by their side.I am certainly not their cup of Darjeeling! So, there you have it. It's unlikely he'll return to the fray. Take note, those of you who enjoy winding folk up.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
