Martin Kelly's position is CB.

Saw him have an outing for the U23s last season and some young hotshot ran rings around him.

It may have been he was just rusty.

A reliable professional has not let us down.

I remember a time about 4 years ago, before Dann did his ACL, when we had Dann and Tomkins at CB and then Sakho come in on loan that it felt like we had a top 10 CB partnership. Never been close to it since, hence having to play so defensively. This deal would put us back in that remit.

On the Kabak/Andersen comparison, they're clearly both good players. Andersen on a 5 year contract is his prime years with a full year already under his belt looking great in a team that had to do a lot of defending feels the better player. It's heavily credited to him that Fulham nearly pulled it off last year - Fulham only conceded 3 more goals than Leicester, and 13 less than us.

And for the record, Sorloth at home to Grimsby is the worst performance I've seen for a very, very long time.

1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

Anderson is a very good signing and will almost certainly be our first choice CB. Fulham were much better once he settled and took over the captaincy.

Surely this means Viera sees Kouyate as CDM?!

Watching Andersen reminds me of Hermann Hreidarsson, not a bad omen.

Or He does not see him as a definite starter, hence rumours of a sale , him turning down contract etc. The player I think who will benefit most from PV coming is Riedewald he has underperformed since he arrived. He has shown flashes of greatness but then made silly errors. When he arrived bought by FDB he was not physically able to deal with EPL and lost confidence. Slowly that confidence has returned and I feel PV may be manager to turn him into world class player he was thought to be. If this happens Kouyate would be on bench

Why can we not play both?

Totally agree with this.. Pardew was responsible for absolutely destroying Kelly's confidence that season for persistently playing him in a position that he clearly could not play.

As for the 'worst player in 5 years' comment by whoever it was, they clearly never watched Benteke for 2 and a half seasons.

After Souare's crash we were out of options at left back. There wasn't much anything anyone could do except for wait until the January transfer window. Our squad was pretty poor. Fortunately, we could invest.

Benteke was hung out to dry by the way the team was set up.

We've got to accept that some players have limited ability and not to slate them when they aren't played to their strengths.

Also - Jordan Mutch is a great call for the worst player we've had in the last few years. £4m purchase when we were bottom of the league though. You're going to get duds now and again. It's why its often better to hang on to the players you have rather than dive into the transfer market.

Anderson sounds like a decent signing. We could probably do with a right winger next.

I am making an assumption for a lot of games we will play 2 defensive midfields and I don't think he will be a first choice starter. Assuming we loan gallagher, We have Luka,Mcarthur Riedeweld in my view all these would start before him thus I think he may be a bench player. This may change if PV sees him as the captain. After Andersons performance at Fulham last season I wonder if he will be club captain. Also are any of u23 players ready to be blooded off the bench? I can't see him renewing contract so will he be allowed to leave before?

One newspaper report said he was back up if we failed to sign the Turkish ex Liverpool player.

...and current report says we are going to sign Kabak this week.

I would love both but doubt this will happen. My money remains on Anderson with the Turkish Futboll site being behind the game.

Probably?
