It's an interesting one as would we be happy to sell one of our real successes this year but make a 40mill profit on a player in a year? That's absolutely the right question to ask. The profit or loss - i.e., the difference between the buying and the selling price - is irrelevant. What matters is whether the club would be better off with Guehi in the team or with a large sum of money in the bank. I favour the former.

What matter to a supporter of the club may well be different to what matters to the people ploughing millions into it. In any event it is unlikely that a player like Guehi would be sold just to stick the money into a bank account.

I think a lot would depend in if the recruitment team feel there is a realistic replacement for Guehi available. A player at say 90% of Guehi's ability bought at 20 mill and then 40mill available to invest elsewhere in the team.

What value would Marc Guehi be? I’m not sure but asked the question would you want Guehi or Maguire at United, scary thought isn’t it!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

The last thing you do is sell your captain, leader and future captain. However, if a massive bid comes in, and he wants to go, we won't have much choice. Massive transfer window coming up.

It wouldn't be profit though would it as we would have to reinvest it purchasing another centre back. Also that reinvestment would more than likely cost us considerably north of £40m to unearth a player anywhere as good as Guehi!

I completely agree but would add Future England Captain. But we are a club who have lived beyond our means for a few years and do need to balance the books a bit at some stage. I think to tempt Palace to sell an offer would have to be in excess of £100 million and I think that is unlikely but it is a measure of what he is worth to us

Dean King thinks he'd been good at Tottenham. They rate him at 27 million. Bru Hah Hah! Why join a loser outfit like the Spurs? Originally posted by Mwncisee
