The term 'ex-pat' I never use, I'm a British immigrant and so is every other Brit who lives abroad. I've never experienced the 'flag waving' nationalism in any other country I have lived in, only the UK and that's only obvious when you've been living outside of the country. I'm not talking about football tournaments but everyday life. No 'resentment' at all, just observation from looking in from the outside but typically it's taken as a resentment when it's pointed out. Heyho, nothing I can do about that but it's a typical trait shown when people don't have real experience of other cultures. A week's vacation somewhere hot twice a year doesn't really cut it.
So this entire country is to be condemned because of your poor lifestyle choices when you lived here.

You have made your life choice, good for you. Others have done the same and shouldn’t be criticised for it by someone like you. I believe I said some time ago that you seem to hate the U.K., which you denied, well it seems you do. You seem to revel in criticising everything this country does, your prerogative but some actually like living here, most of the world want to come here so can’t be all bad.

You seem to enjoy putting words in the mouth of others to satisfy your own weird agenda. Show me where I said that I 'hate' the UK. Being critical based on experience does not equal 'hate' but clearly you don't show that experience, so I understand your frustration As you clearly don't have that experience. Regarding 'most of world wants to visit here', more flag waiving and as usual, incorrect. France is the most visited country in the world followed by Spain. Italy and Germany are the next most visited European countries with the UK in 10th place. So how do you conclude that someone with 3 passports is a 'tax dodger'? You clearly didn't learn much in all of the years spent in BF. Citizenship can be acquired by spending between 5 and 10 years living, working and paying taxes in most European countries. Maybe you should try it sometime to open your mind and see beyond the flag waiving.

Where did I say you were a tax dodger? I said it was a possible scenario... fact that I learned from being in BF. Did I say “ most of the world wants to visit here? Read the post don’t put words in the mouth of others. I have plenty of life experiences thank you, both in the UK and abroad. Yep fully aware of requirements for Citizenship, is one British, you didn’t answer that? Why if the UK is so poor, and you feel the need to criticise it, Surely not to access the NHS when necessary?

Are you sure you have your FACTS correct regarding most visited countries in Europe?

In left-wing circles it is always felt that there is something slightly disgraceful in being an Englishman and that it is a duty to s****** at every English institution, from horse racing to suet puddings. It is a strange fact, but it is unquestionably true that almost any English intellectual would feel more ashamed of standing to attention during “God Save the King” than of stealing from a poor box.” - George Orwell. Hi. I'm a first generation immigrant. And I can assure you there aren't many places in the world more welcoming of foreigners than the UK. That's not to suggest there is nowhere, but it's rare. There has been extensive polling on this matter as well, and the UK almost always comes out close to the top of the list with regards to people of other ethnicities, nationalities & religions. When I hear that immigrants wish to leave the UK "as a result of Brexit" and such, that's a great shame. But I do have to question what they're referring to. Brexit wasn't a rejection of foreigners. Sure, it gave a platform for the xenophobes to exploit. But that's not a result of the vote - xenophobes have always been in the UK. Xenophobes have always been in Europe. Far-right ethno nationalism is a far more prominent phenomenon in many places in the EU than it is in the UK. I know a girl who lives in Sweden, one of the supposedly most left wing places in the EU. Her Dad is an Iraqi refugee and you'd be shocked at just hostile to foreigners they are in that country.
