I think it's great timing as nothing hangs on the result tomorrow and the fans can say goodbye the right way. It reminds me of when we got promoted and had 'The Last Stand'. We lost but it didn't matter as the game was more about celebrating. Different circumstances, but nonetheless it is the best way to say goodbye. Rumours Roy might end up at WBA. Whatever he does I wish him all the best as he has earned my respect, even if I can't honestly sit here and say I'm going to miss his brand of football. Despite Klopp's sentiment regarding Roy, if we beat them I hope Roy slides towards their dugout on his knees flashing V's and shouting retire this muthaf*ckers

Thank you to Roy for his commitment to the cause. Look beyond the first team performances and see a club that has blossomed Since those awful days back in 2010. Cat 1 status Academy, U18s top drawer, U23s on the verge of promotion. Kept Wilf despite outside pressure and influences, sold AWB for £50m. Could he have introduced young players earlier? yes but he stuck with what he knows and our place in the Premiership has been established. Happy retirement Roy, Look forward to honest punditry when Sky get you in, as they surely will. He will be a great pundit. Some suggesting he should be given an ambassadorial role with FIFA or UEFA due to his linguistic ability and how high he is regarded within the game. Seems very sensible. Good luck to him

I don't think this announcement has come as a surprise to vast swathes of our supporters. Mr Hodgson has done a sterling job, met his objectives and I am sure he will get a rousing send-off tomorrow. He deserves a cacophony of applause and appreciation for his efforts. I wish Mr Hodgson all the very very best and I am grateful that he has kept us in the PL season-on-season.

I liked the earlier quote of Hodgson as a broadsheet in a tabloid world. So very apt, indeed So my message to Roy: A big thank you Roy and it's great that you are going out the front door so to speak. I note you say it's time "to step away from the rigours of top-flight Premier League football". Does that mean you might have a shot at getting the Baggies (or even Fulham) back up again? Or has your better half decided that you should celebrate your golden wedding somewhere other than on a football pitch? Either way, enjoy the next stage of life and if that doesn't include managing a football team, find something interesting to keep those 'little grey cells' working. Heard an interview today, he wants to visit Russia and the Far East with his wife. Has nothing lined up but stated you can never say never. Did seem he was definitely taking a break, which after 50 odd years, he deserves

I’m the first to admit I’ve posted some negative comments about Roy, and at the time I felt they were justified. Has he got the best out of our squad? Who knows. But you look back now on his record and and god what a great job he has done. We haven’t got many legends at Palace but we’ve got a few and I think he deserves that accolade. 100% this. Plus add I did not realise I could feel sad about the departure of a football manager, who knew?

Good luck to him Would be a great person to have involved in those set-ups... he's probably to much of a real football person though. I wish him all the best and really hope that we can push on and build upon the four years of solidity that he's given us. His life is a wonderful footballing story leading to the rescuing of his boyhood team. Sometimes it's not always winning trophies but being part of these types of stories that really counts for fans of clubs like ours! An absolute gent and I'm very grateful for his time at Palace. Looking forward to seeing his send off tomorrow, just gutted I can't be there. Cheers Roy.

He’s been a steady and safe pair of hands and a gentleman - pleased he goes in these circumstances. Kouyate says he and the players are very sad - so hopefully they’ll raise their games for tomorrow nights match and send Roy off to retirement from a distinguished career that deserves all the respect he’ll get. Intriguing times ahead!
