Just can't understand how this will work. this will have to be a replacement for the Champions League, but UEFA aren't about to let that happen. If they exclude the biggest 20 teams in Europe, then their flagship product is ruined. Even If it does carry on - what does that mean for the PL? The FA and UEFA aren't about to Govern this new League - so we'll end up getting 2 completely different Sports. ala Rugby League/union as the SL bosses apply different laws of the game. The only way It makes any sense is for the club(and the TV Companies)participating. Players/Domestic Associations/Footballing authorities and Fans are all worse off. Posturing of the highest order.

Well if the big 6 are so keen on making changes to the game perhaps they should change their names to reflect their new fan base. Singapore United Beijing Chelsea Bangkok to Manchester City Abu Dhabi Gunners Qatari Bin Dippers and of course the famous couldntwintheleaguesohadtojoinabreakaway Hotspurs

Yep and don’t forget commercial breaks during the game

I really hope that FIFA, UEFA and country leagues stand firm on this. A super league is unviable if players can't play in Euros/WC/Champs League etc, and I don't think that interest in a breakaway league with no link to the rest of the football world is viable. Would love to see them break away and slowly fizzle out to nothing, leaving the rest of the football world to establish a new top order. It might take 20-years to right itself but it sets an example to all and is deliverable within a generation.

The announcement would not have been made if lawyers etc for each club would not have gone over the agreements with the PL etc could not be broken. The money to be made out odf this is enormous with TV rights, Advert breaks, this would have all been taken into account. JP Morgan would not have bankrolled this without a return on there investment ... I also think that the MLS will get involved at some stage and instead of a European Super League it will be renamed something else which means even more money for the owners.

It'll go ahead despite all the sabre rattling. Effectively the domestic cup competitions will be further devalued without the six (or they'll put in the under-18s). However, there may be a benefit to us 'smaller' clubs, and therefore we should get that new stand built asap to take advantage of migrating disgruntled London fans who are 'old skool' believers in the game. With three London clubs migrating to this super league, we could take advantage.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

Football's created its own monster. This is an extension of what's been building over the years.....in no particular order, the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar, the break away initially by the Premier League from the Football League, the devaluing of the FA Cup through (for example) Man Utd not entering one year because they had to play some made up "Super Cup" abroad, the use of Wembley for semi finals in addition to the Final, the moving of the FA Cup Final time from 3 o'clock on a Saturday to various other times, the number of pointless England "friendlies" that allowed virtually any footballer who was qualified to play for England to get a cap, the replacement of the European Cup by the formation of the "Champions" League to allow the three runners up to take part against other runners up across the Continent, the abolition of the European Cup Winners Cup (winning domestic cups isn't important any more), the total disdain shown to supporters of clubs by the constant rearranging of kick off times to accommodate the TV paymasters and the subsequent disconnect by the players from the fanbase. The list could probably go on. But a bit like the millions that poured into the streets mourning the death of Princess Diana despite fuelling the media circus that killed her by continually buying the publications that followed her around, people like me are partially to blame too because I still pay my Sky subscription and have a season ticket at Selhurst whilst slavishly getting train and replacement bus journeys at whatever time of the day or night I'm told to in order to watch the sport I love.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

The best players in the world are not going to play for teams which restricts their access to the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the Champions League or the World Cup. If they want to go we shouldn’t even be standing in their way - merely standing firm and enforcing the bans.
