They used to face shot and shell on a few occasions and perhaps had enough of being put in the pillory.

On the subject of the January transfer window, has anyone in the Premier league done any notable business yet? I think the impact of covid on finances might make spending unlikely all around. I for one hope we are lining up a couple of deals for summer instead, when we will have the money created by releasing a few expensive flops. The absence of actual transfers this month doesn't mean the club aren't busy right now. Hopefully.

On the subject of the January transfer window, has anyone in the Premier league done any notable business yet?

I think the impact of covid on finances might make spending unlikely all around.

I for one hope we are lining up a couple of deals for summer instead, when we will have the money created by releasing a few expensive flops.

The absence of actual transfers this month doesn't mean the club aren't busy right now. Hopefully.

Also, - it may be that clubs are struggling to know how to price players in these strange times. - what if the PL is suspended and this time can't be completed? If that is the case, then that ambition can probably be achieved with the existing squad, so why shell out when income is going to be lower than usual? Still early doors. Also,
- it may be that clubs are struggling to know how to price players in these strange times.

Until the Yanks sell, don't expect any investment in the team beyond staying up. And as we're looking OK for this season (as it stands) I suspect that we won't do any business this window - unless we sell someone like Wilf or PVA and need to replace.
