This is not going away. Now I get why people might wonder why I am making such a big deal of this. After all there have been multiple attacks by Islamic terrorists with huge amounts of casulties and they just come and go in a load of false outrage before the focus falls back on how the West, if we are really honest, deserves it. So why would this specific incident, involving one single victim, be different? Because it is the most specifc attack on Western civilisation yet. An absolute crossing of a Rubicon. A teacher whose only crime was debate with kids an issue about free speech. The Islamic world belives the West should not be allowed to show the cartoons in question. And its just cartoons right? If we can stop billions of people being offended then surely it is a small act to aquiese? Just an act of good manners really, when you break it down? This is a turning point. Because if we aquiese, then it is all over. The beginning of the end. Because it will not stop with cartoons. The pendulem of control swings to the East. That an alien culutre and religion can dictate to the West what it can and cannot do or believe in. What its schools can and cannot teach. I am a huge critic of Macron. I see him as the most dangerous Frenchman since Napoleon. I make no bones about this. And I also suspect that much of his current stance is driven with one eye on elections in France next year with the FN breathing down his neck. But none of that makes his position on this wrong. If France backs down then we enter a whole new world. One single death can often have a bigger impact on history than millions. This is one of those moments. to answer your question : we would have a media circus 24/7 without any let-up for years.

Anyway, I've given up on the truth. It makes no difference and persuades nobody these days.

The French were making noises a couple of days ago about a potential attack on a Church. A genuine turning point for France now. The comments from the local Mayor speak volumes.... The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, said the attacker had repeated “Allahu Akbar” several times while he was being restrained by police. Estrosi said: “We have two people killed inside the church … and a third person whose life is in danger who was in a bar facing the church where she had taken refuge. Enough is enough … we have to remove this Islamo-fascism from our territory.” Nothing about holding hands and singing 'imagine'. The killing of that teacher will go down in the history books as more than just another act of barbarism.

As Matov implies they can always hold a candle lit vigil that should sort the problem.

We'll hear the same "strong condemnations" and "tough talk", and they'll scurry back to censoring what we say online under the guise of a "phobia". I don't think being decapitated by cultural enrichers is an irrational fear. It's one that many Christians now likely feel when they enter their place of worship. Nothing will change - those in power at the top will talk the talk whilst shoving their head deeper into the sand. Still, at least they got their bit of jihad in before the lockdown kicked in, eh? Wait for the “ his mental illness is due to the big bad West” , that’ll be the West where he was happy to settle and who took him in. Or the “let’s not get carried away here, he may have been provoked” Yep elderly female churchgoers and Churchwardens are known for their racist views

Macron has made some pretty strong statements, as evidenced by the reaction of much of the Islamic world. Now this could all just fizzle out into the usual candle waving and imagine singing BS we have had in the past but this feels different. It really does. Imagine the Mayor of a British city saying what the Mayor of Nice has today? Will action follow the words? I don't know. But the words matter. And the tone and content of them has been different.
