I am willing to give him every opportunity to prove himself given his early career form, however some of those long range shots that appeared to go right through him as if he wasn't there, are worrying.

He will never be a success at this club to many as he is not Speroni and even worse has the temerity to wear the hallowed No 1 shirt that some feel we should have retired after Speroni left.

Yes when Speroni first arrived he looked out of his depth hence we signed Gabor. But since then we have seen keepers such as McCarthy Mandanda and Henessey and possibly others come in and no matter what they did for some fans especially on here they could do nothing right. Equally look at the collective social media mutterings when shock horror we gave the number one shirt out again with fans suggesting either it should have been or some saying it actually had been retired. The phrase Speroni hater appearing on these boards if you either dared to suggest he had a bad game or indeed another keeper had a decent one.

I just think for some the keeper role is totemic and they struggle to see it clearly - each having their own hero or villan.
