Only real question in my mind is if Downes at Ipswich is a higher priority. No doubting that Ben offers us something different to Andros Ayew but there’s less in the middle if we are looking at Macca as someone who needs breathers.

Both ideal but someone more central the priority in my book. Wasn’t that why we were after Gallagher?

We have a long list of central midfielders already in McArthur, McCarthy, Luka, Kouyaté and Jairo. So I can’t imagine Downes has ever been a priority target especially when we have bid 1.6m for him. That doesn’t sound like a priority to me.

Anyone know what happening with Jach, he was out on loan last season and is supposed to be a young CB?

He played in a at least two of the pre-season games but at LB rather than CB. Good at hoofing the ball out of play; didn't seem to have much in the way of ball control from the little I noticed of him. Others may have seen it differently. He's still with us as far as I know.

I'd have thought it was fairly obvious that if we sign Benrahma, it means Wilf is definitely off. Eze, Bats and Ferguson were signed on the 'we could afford that' column. No way we could splash 20 mill for another player with the wages we are forking out on Meyer, Benteke and Sakho.
Question is, ate we happy for Benrahma and Eze as the wilf replacements? I can see us taking a 43 million bid from Dortmund if they sell Sancho, maybe with us throwing in the promise if United take away their sell on cut.

I'm not so sure we have the appetite at reported £25m (sky today) Everytime I read something his price goes up. AT £18m plus add ons is a good deal for both as Wet Spam have dropped out. That would also allow us to go after the lad from Ipswich and another CB.

Now being reported that we've offered to loan him with an obligation to buy in 12 months time. Unless Benrahma is desperate to leave I don't see why Brentford would accept that?

Preferential buyers. Use the press to put off conflicting time wasting.

Disagree..!!

To my mind Eze and Benrahma financed by the AWB deal.

Additionally we are now probably clear of any payments for Benteke and Sakho.

On from that there will I assume general transfer budget available, as we have spent “diddly squat” in the last few windows.

I see Eze, Batsman, Benrahma, Downes and Kotchap (still think owe will see the latter 2 this window) as a statement of intent from the club that investment and more importantly investment in young talent is required if we are firstly to remain in the Prem, secondly develop and progress.

If you believe the threads we are looking at Sarr as replacement for Wilf - personally I don’t think Wilf will go, but that’s just my opinion/gut feel.

Again on personal front I am really looking forward to seeing Eze, Benrahma, Zaha and Batsman all playing together - will be exciting to watch..!!

Wickham yes, Sakho hmm, Meyer no way.

Just about to turn 25, very skilful and still about 2 years away from his peak. Get him the right level of physical conditioning and a bit of confidence and he could be one of the best mid-table midfielders in this division.

If he was 32 I would agree.

We do indeed but how many have even a yard of pace? None imo. Also think Kouyate may be fully repurposed as a CB. Macca is all we have as a moderately attacking central mid bar the ever versatile Schlupp (a player I like) but he ain’t a central mid. Macca is good but his legs are tired.

No team ran less than us all last season. Royball partly the issue but also age and lack of legs another issue. If we are to be strong on the counter again we need a central mid who can keep up

Also with Wilf Townsend Schlupp Ayew and Eze I’m not seeing someone who can play wide is that pressing a priority either :-) All can do a job there

Legs in the middle is our biggest gap

Edit - left out Meyer there whoops but not exactly the box to box type. Gives us an option but in a different way.

Parish has already said that the AWB monies went to clear debts

Well if f the situation is as dire as you make it sound then we are truly screwed if the answer is a league 1 player with experience of being relegated as a championship player.

Downes is a squad player at best or even a player to go straight out on loan...I’m just saying don’t get your hopes up that this lad starts in the 1st team anytime soon.

And no Kouyaté is not only going to play centre back from now on...that’s ludicrous. He’s playing there because we have injuries and he’s competent at centre back. If Roy needs him at centre mid he will play centre mid won’t he.
