Last night I watched "the Murder of Marilyn Monroe" on C5 which claimed to have startling new evidence as the title of the program suggests.

Instead we had a re-hash of allegations that date back to the seventies and eighties. They referred to secret tape recordings that prove Robert Kennedy was involved in her murder so they spend the program detailing what is on these tapes only to admit that the tapes are missing.

1 person claims to have heard the tapes but cannot back it up. In other words no new evidence at all.

Quite frankly this was just shabby journalism and C5 should be ashamed of broadcasting it.

At one point one of the witnesses claimed that her doctor murdered her by injection and in doing so accidentally broke on of her ribs. Now I saw a program where an ME reviewed her autopsy in detail I don't remember him detailing a broken rib if true then it goes some way to support the murder claim however the program didn't bother to follow up and read the autopsy so maybe she didn't have a broken rib? If she did then shoddy journalism for not telling us.

Then there was the way that the witnesses were treated every thing they say must be true it never occurred to the program makers that possibly these people are lying because its a money earner and every few years they are in the spotlight when someone does a rehash documentary?

At one point they even say why would this person lie well for the reason I have just given. The housekeeper changed her story so many times that as a witness you would have to say she is completely unreliable. Do these programs every ask did these people get paid are they making a living out of it?

Something happened that night but this is the type of garbage documentary that gives conspiracy theories a bad name, all theory and no evidence.

I just found this about her death on Wikipedia if you are interested check out the section on conspiracy theories.

It's amazing how witnesses in the 1960's who have no evidence and are unreliable due to their dodgy background by the eighties and the onwards are 100% trustworthy and constantly referenced as fact.

Let's say you developed a biological weapon by altering an existing virus. What safety protocols would you put in place?

Well one thing is the virus couldn't last forever - it needs a limited lifespan. Why? Well, look at Anthrax Island uninhabitable for something like 90 years. That's no good to you if you want to take over other territories. You could never invade or control - you have merely destroyed.
Why else? Safety protocol if there is an accident. No point having an endless weapon out there. Could kill all of your own.

Far better is to alter a virus by placing an inbuilt 'feeding' protein within it. A protein that becomes exhausted over a set period of time - say three to six months. It is also better if it doesn't kill but lays low, or limits the capacity of, the opposition military. Even forcing them to wear the NBC suits limits their capacity so you need something that spreads rapidly.

Hence, this is the type of virus you release before invasion. A virus that dies out in a certain period of time, spreads rapidly and generally makes military forces ill but doesn't kill them.

The virus will not mutate - you wouldn't be able to control that, and it dies out due to only being 'fuelled' by its in-built protein.

How will this be proved? The virus will suddenly die out despite various governments wanting further precautions, lock downs etc. It also won't come back, which will be a huge giveaway that may require some further dirty work.

How did this happen? Accident, however, no accident it is massive in Iran and there is no reporting of this. I wonder who supplies Iran with this kind of thing?

Just completely unfounded ramblings but good conspiracy material.

I think a fairly recent event would mirror that

The 'supposed' (and I put supposed because this is just from the top of my head) proofs would be that it just dies out, doesn't mutate and doesn't return. Let's hope.

Here's my take. She had an affair with the Kennedy brothers, became unstable after she was dumped, threatened to go public with the affairs and other secrets and was either silenced by the secret service that night or just overdosed accidentally. When you look at all the evidence and consider the circumstances, you have to suspect the former.
Trouble is that a lot of people die in suspicious circumstances when they become a problem for the authorities and we are always expected to believe that it was not murder.

That is the problem for me.

It would still be hugely disconcerting though, as it would've been a successful experiment on the population of the planet.

It is hugely disconcerting enough. I think I am on my tenth week of lockdown but have lost track of time. Luckily, I have a job, a house, a garden, a family - yet imagine ten weeks in a bedsit, room or inner city apartment. Solitary confinement wouldn't last that long.

There are death squads in plenty of countries. Make of it what you will. I can't say too much about Britain, for instance.

Yes I'm in the same position. We're lucky really, and yet it's still been tough. Being cooped up in a studio or one bedroom apartment would've driven me half mad.

I don't think you could put an in-built feeding protein into a virus - they use all the material inside the host's cells to replicate, a virus grows in terms of how many particles it produces not each individual particle (or 'virion'). Viruses are not considered to be 'alive' as thy don't produce ATP, the production of which creates the energy all living things require. Some say a virus is only 'alive' when it is active, the aggregation of virus-infected cells is actually 'the virus'. But was it an accident or not ... ? Open question.

I didn't need to be locked down for this to occur. It happens when you get to my age e.g. something mentioned on the news last night I thought happened perhaps last year, but it was actually in 2014
