if it is true he wants £180k a week then its a no go. if he gets that then wilf wants that. if he & wilf get that, our gaggle of players earning £100k want £120k...and so on...

whilst originally "exited" about this, the minute other teams were linked (3 at last count) i lost interest because it seems obv all teams inv are being used by his agent;whilst that is the agents job i dont like my club being used like that?

I can accept that having got £50m in for AWB then clubs would inflate their asking prices for players we may be interested in but my point being we should have had a deal lined up before it became public knowledge about the AWB fee. Otherwise I don't see the difference between this situation and any other - if we bid for a player it's because we have a need in that position. This isn't the first example of a severe lack of succession planning and probably won't be the last. And really I would rather be told that the club can't afford players rather than some of the BS excuses we are fed.

Does anyone really think we are capable of getting this done? Only reason we got Bats is because we we were not competing against anyone else. Chelsea refused to let him join Spurs so it left us.

Interesting analogy. If you are buying a premier league car like Parish's Ferrari you pay the asking price. It's only run of the mill cars that you can haggle over discounts. It's the same with footballers. If you want the footballing equivalent of a Ferrari you pay the going rate. To continue with your motoring analogy what Parish is allegedly trying to do is to rent the Ferrari but with the supplying dealer paying half of the rental costs. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out When was the last time you bought a Ferrari?

I was merely setting out base principles as I see them in direct response to a question you asked

If he is the right one and what we want then by all means try and do a deal but I would suggest that we are poles apart.
