From my limited conversation I’ve had with people I don’t think the appetite is there. Even for people who are reasonably independence minded once the Braveheart rhetoric is over pragmatism kicks in.

There's always hope.

If they continue to vote SNP I can't really see UK parliaments continuing to refuse referendums....though we all remember the 'once in a lifetime' BS that rapidly changed its tune.

I rather like referendums.

I thought that those human/cuckoo hybrid stories were just conspiracy theories.

Sometimes though, you are forced to reconsider.

When the time comes that the electorate vote in a government who wishes to take us back in I hope you remember that.

And it would be political suicide to try and do so without another referendum.

The rest of your long winded, self righteous guff is not worth a response.

Come back in five years.

In the final analysis 'Leave' were triumphant in the referendum and despite efforts from those hell-bent NOT to respect the referendum result we are LEAVING. We will indeed 'Get Brexit done' !

There are those on the Left who LOST the recent General Election by a 'Country mile'. Perhaps they wish to REVOKE the result of the election !

Clearly there are bitterness-oozing souls who are in a hissy fit apropos recent developments ! But I suppose their abject disappointment is understandable - they have suffered a series of set-backs.

Indeed my friend.

Perhaps there are those in our midst who would assert that gramophone records stuck in the groove spring to mind.

In the words of PR Wisbech :

"That must only be true because of your own particular character. I find many posters here so tedious that I ignore their contributions completely as my experience indicates they have nothing new to say. Might I suggest you do the same. You are free to ignore me"

Following on from the reference to "Sub-Species" on HOl. I accept no individuals were named however one can make judgements as to their identity!

Apropos "You are free to ignore me", one is grateful for such permission and I shall pay heed to these comments with the resultant effect that my dearth of responses will not provide your diatribe with (To quote Margaret Thatcher) the "Oyxgen of publicity".

Jolly good luck in your efforts to overturn Brexit and to introduce PR. No hope and Bob Hope !!!!

The fact is, despite the Tories gaining an 80 seat majority, more votes were cast for parties seeking a second referendum than for those who did not.

Trust you to try that old chestnut just like the BBC did after the elections for the European Parliaments.

I suppose that it's customary for losers to try and find positives out of defeat and you are just carrying on the tradition.

Brexit may have played a large part in this year's voting but it wasn't everything. People voted Conservative as they had more faith in a Conservative government running this country rather than Labour's idea of giving billions away to everyone and hoping that there is enough on the magic money tree.

People didn't want a Government run by a terrorist sympathiser and his crony and they didn't want a Home Secretary whose ability to do her job depended on whether she had remembered to take her meds.

Please give it a rest trying to twist statistics to suit your own agenda. Your side lost for the second time. The withdrawal agreement will be ratified and we will come out of the EU on 31st January and I have no doubt that a suitable trade agreement will be signed and sealed by the end of next year despite the protestations of those who didn't believe that Boris could get the EU to come up with a suitable withdrawal agreement as quickly as he did

There is nothing the least bit tiresome about that. In fact I suspect you are going to hear it a lot in the coming months. If, as you claim, people now know better than in 2016 (and I agree that they do) then what does that fact mean?

It means that now that we all know more about what Brexit actually means the electorate voted in a Government that will carry out the wishes of the majority in the 2016 referendum and those that don't like the idea should stop whingeing and moaning and acknowledge that democracy has worked and the will of the people will be carried out

That the people voted in a Tory government doesn't mean that most want this Brexit, or any kind of Brexit. Mainly it demonstrates a weariness and desire for any kind of closure. I think they are likely to be disappointed when they realise that the only thing that has been "done" is them.

And the one party who were totally opposed to leaving (not including the SNP), overall lost a seat and their leader lost hers
