But to be fair people do have three choices. Leave the EU. Vote Tory. Remain in the EU. Vote Lib Dem. Remain in the EU but be put through the tortuous reality of another referendum with a ludicrous Remain option. Better than 2017 when Labour pledged to honour the result of the first one. At least this time they might be telling the truth.

Labour's 'credible' deal would of course be remaining in the EU in all but name.

I wondered when Gina Miller would pop up although I thought it would likely be a court hearing to determine the validity of having a GE? I am not outraged it is all very predictable although some might want to know where she is getting the money for this. Anyway she will be the first of many from all sides pushing the tactical vote angle. Apparently Farage has told his party they will target soft Labour seats and leave Tory euro sceptics along. This is likely to be the most tactical voting GE ever.

Yes, it is. David Cameron started it by asking for a yes/no answer to something that obviously isn't a yes/no question and then made is worse by having a referendum that wasn't legally binding, May could have got a deal through but decided to hold an unnecessary general election and lost the majority. Even then May could have got a deal through if the Tory party wasn't imploding. May's deal that the Tory hardliners wouldn't vote for is very similar to the one that BJ was pushing for. All the Tories fault. last time I saw something that blinkered it had a jockey on it.

Women in politics. LBC and a number of the papers have been running stories about the number of women MPs who are not standing at the next GE. According to these MPs its is about the abuse they have received because they are women. LBC are normally pretty good but shamefully they forgot to point out that these "women" are actually MPS who have either left the party they were elected with and or voted against Brexit when the majority of their constituents voted remain. This has nothing to do with sexism and much to do with betraying your voters. I am disappointed they are not standing because they would largely have lost after consistently telling us that they represented the majority of voters in their area. That is a statement I cannot prove as they are not standing hence my disappointment. My guess is that they would rather stand down and blame social media abuse "I have to protect my family etc." rather than face the humiliation of a big loss which would possibly hurt their future job prospects. I expect the men have received just as much abuse, can't stand the heat...
Who's going to get the teas in?

I am more than delighted to support a Boris Johnson led Conservative party in the impending GE and I shall campaign for them with vim and vigour as I have always done over the years. Suffice to say my perusing and posts on HOL will be limited during the election campaign as my efforts will be concentrated on campaigning for my party. With all due respect I already knew that and it wasn't my question. Would you have supported Macmillan, Heath and Cameron with just as much "vim and vigour"?

No it isn't. It's literally two sentences. Negotiate a deal that protects workers rights and environmental standards. Then put it back to the people. This is where the press have been so effective. They have convinced people that we as a population are too stupid to understand anything with more detail than 3 monosyllabic words, guffed out at us like a tourist taking a picture of some apes in a zoo. If we are as serious as we claim to be about understanding and navigating brexit (and we have a 10 million page thread on it if anyone was in doubt), surely It's incumbent on us to be informed on the nuance and detail of the situation? This election isn't just about Brexit. We have more people in in work poverty since the war. The NHS is literally being sold off to big pharma. And the Tories have their manifesto being written by a Fracking lobbyist. We can't let these c***s keep on running our country. Edited by serial thriller (31 Oct 2019 7.27am) Would you prefer the Islington Champagne socialists that now have taken over Labour. That is why a lot of their core voters in the North are going to abandon them.

I dread to think what mess this country would be in if we hadn't had Margaret Thatcher to sort out the stranglehold that the trade unions had over us all. I assume that you have forgotten the days when there was always one union or other on strike either for parity or differential holding the country to ransom in the process I remember those days very well. Thatcher was a necessary evil for a while. I thought she was an awful person but that doesn't mean I couldn't grudgingly admire some of her attributes. Dealing with the unions was always going to be done. It just happened to be on her watch that it happened. She was left in place far too long by the bunch of weak men standing behind her.

The type of tory party you could vote for is walking out the door. They have had enough, and so should we. Why would women vote conservative now. Time for radical change and a big labour win. There is nothing wrong with labours brexit, you simply vote for what you want. That will be remain as you dread.
