Wilson chairs a five-strong recruitment committee which includes the heads of analysis and youth recruitment, and which meets regularly. He has talked of how his team profile prospective signings on technical and psychological levels. “At any one time we might have 20 in the mix for one position,” Wilson says. “Then we narrow it down to three or four.” Willo, if you're going to plagiarise the work of others (without giving them credit), in this case the Guardian's David Hytner, at least make the effort to get the spelling correct; it's "oversees" not "overseas".
Willo just scrolls through google all day to appear supreme leader. Having said that, he always appears very cool, calm and collected.

We have a scouting system where we receive feedback from........,reports are considered by......, bids are made after...... The system has x scouts. The strategy is....... to establish a mix of young talent from lower leagues and mix with signings considered surplus by higher level clubs. Why do you feel the need to be involved in what I expect they don't want other clubs to know.

This is a Palace discussion forum and transfers are the major topic of discussion in this and every other football forum during the closed season. The question is why you feel the need to defend Parish and the club on every given occasion no matter what the subject

I don't know the ins and outs of it but I think the recruitment is carried out by a combination of Omar Yabroudi and Ben Stevens who report into Freedman, which goes to Hodgson and Parish and then Parish leaves the reports in his in tray until deadline day where we stick them all up on a wall, blind fold Ray Lewington and stick him on a spinning chair. Brighty gives him a good spin, then the Americans come in with some semi-automatics and Ray is left to shoot at the wall with whatever he hits we bid for.

In bygone days if signings didn't prove a success, the manager was subject to much ordure.I get the impression that if our signings in this window, come into this category Messrs Parish and Freedman will be the subject of vituperation and not Hodgson. Perhaps in this modern era with the introduction of software tools ,recruitment teams play a much greater role in identifying potential signings than the manager, hence the shift in culpability if the signings do not come up to scratch.

I'm not sure that it's an era thing but each club does things differently. Sean Dyche is rumoured to have complete control over all footballing matters including transfers and I can't imagine Alex Ferguson quietly putting up with a player being foisted upon him that he didn't want. I think that it's a Palace thing where the manager gives the Sporting Director and Chairman a list of whom he wants and they get him someone else. Or did Hodgson really ask for Jach and Radip

All I know is that last season Burnley had a Technical Director as well as a Head of Recruitment. Clubs of course operate differently but software tools such as 'WyScout' and 'Scout7' were simply not around in bygone days and often managers used to travel many miles, often in adverse weather conditions, to watch a player in an evening game.Statistics play a huge part these days with the introduction of modern technology.

statistics are all well and good but they do not tell you if a player will fit into your team or the way you play . You can't beat watching a player play even on a wet Tuesday evening up nprth
