I thought it was just me that was a bag of nerves at that match!

Jacko for me too though I cant ever remember him missing a game while he was no 1 .(though I have some vague memory of Steve Kember between the sticks ) So hats off to your recollection of the reserve keeper who of course in those days wasn't on the bench but just stayed in the pub .
He really was a great Keeper in an era of great keepers and would have achieved international honours in any other period .

Not sure he has been mentioned in this thread but there might be some who recall Tony Burns as their 'First goalie'.
He was signed from a club in S.Africa and made a lot of appearances for us.

He went on to be goalkeeper coach at Millwall for several years and was caretaker manager with Alan McLeary for a few games after our former player David Tuttle left his managerial post.

Vic Rouse, I think a 4th Division goalkeeper who was a Welsh International, great GK.
Followed by another great GK, Bill Glazier, I think sold to Coventry City for a record £35,000!!!

really good keeper from Durban, shot stopper, better than Paul Hammond, we had few sarth effrikanss back then, Bobby Bell b4 Big Mal, Stewart Jump? But Tony Burns was another gem unearthed from obscurity - actually between Jacko and Burridge the keeper situation was a bit unsettled, as it was b4 we got Nigel Martyn in.
