Not that I particularly *want* to sell him, but if Dortmund are offering £60m+ for him then I'd rather he go to another country's top side, than go to a rival Premier League team and have him run rings around us in the league. Plus, better to sell sooner rather than later, so we have a few days to reinvest the money in a new striker that actually scores goals.

One more try.

So we sell Zaha for £60 million. What then?

If we were a big club we might spend that 60 million on a proper replacement but we aren't, so we won't be able to attract a player of that quality.

So we have this £60 million and everyone knows it and all we can do is buy some more average players at inflated prices who won't make the team any better.

So why was it a good idea to sell Zaha with years left on his contract again?

To summarise. Relegation could cost us hundreds of millions and the £60 million we get for Wilf will buy us three more Jeffrey Shlupps.

The voice of wisdom. If the player wants to go, let him go and get the best price. But where has Wilf said he wants to go? All bulls*** media speculation churned up by who?

Let him go?

He just signed a long contract.

The phrase cake and eat it springs to mind.

But you are right. SKY have been spinning this story and they even tried to link him with Spurs for good measure.

SKY are laughable as usual.

im not naive enough to realise there wont be serious interest in wilf...but hes defo here til the summer.

i cant see SP selling for anything under £75m and thats about right, proven player in the strongest league in the world.

if he does go, its ‘how’ we invest that money that defines is as a club for years to come

Troy Deeney (you know the sh*t player , that’s nothing but a thug ) he’s played 40 top flight games less than Zaha and has 5 more goals/assists.
I like Zaha , but he isn’t the ‘must have star’ that all the other clubs want. He’s decent for us , but saying that he should be going for 70-80 million and should be a main player in a champions league team is fantasy I am afraid.
Good winger , but I’d take Salako all day , beat a player and put the ball on the forwards head? Or beat a player, check back, take him on again and again, finally cross it once all the defence is set ?

Salako was great before he broke his leg but that was a different era when Geoff Thomas could play for England.

I think you underestimate Zaha's qualities. He might not a prolific goalscorer and his crossing is often thoughtless, but he occupies two and three defenders at a time which is priceless. He changes the dynamic of a game by easing pressure on our defence and making the opposition less inclined to commit.

Your last sentence isn’t worth 60-80 million. I like zaha , but we’ve got 2 wingers , one wants to cut inside and shoot, the other one wants to beat the same player 3 times. Neither are going to help a decent Center forward , Salako would cross the ball early , when the defence were trying to get back in position.
If Zaha has the commitment and was up for every game , and bolloc*s of Geoff Thomas or Michael Hughes he would be a world beater, but he hasn’t, so he isn’t .
Good player , but no Ian Wright.

You'll see what it's worth if he's sold.

Got to agree with Casual. And Salako could cross a fantastic ball, something that Wilf can't. Saying that, it would be folly to let him go, because he has other set skills.
Needs Wickham or Benteke, he can't do it all on his own, and I think this is the burden that is upon him at the moment. Because he is our most skilful player either he or the management have taken it upon themselves to give him the load.
Share the load and watch hime go

No nonsense winger , playing for the team ,to supply the forwards , not for himself ,and a great shot , best I’ve seen , I’m only 41 though.
Like Zaha though.
