You could look at it from a different angle:
He's had plenty of game time and got, what? 1 goal? We need a goal scorer. I personally think there's a fair arguement to say he's operating under instruction and putting the work in, doing a good job but why pay 4 million for what he brings?

Surely we've got youth players who could charge about, work the flanks etc and at least equal his goal tally and overall contribution?

We should save 4 million and promote from eithi, we might even get a bonus of discovering talent like AWB into the bargain.

He did OK yesterday against a pretty poor side but overall as has been noted he hasn’t done much; there are hundreds of players who could equal his contribution.
Would he get into the teams we look at as mid / upper mid-table rivals?

May be shot down in flames but thought he played yesterday as if he was after a contract Maybe it was the south Wales air was what he needed but distinct signs of improvement bit late this season but was good to see.Good to see Colin get great support from the cardiff faithful he's done really well to keep them in the hunt for so long with total lack of quality Made us look like barca at times Answered my own question is that why ayew looked good

Didn't Sako do the same last season?

Even from a squad player point of view and even at 4m I would like to see the money spent elsewhere. A lower league player or youngster with potential. He offers absolutely no threat to the opposition, goalscoring wise. Yes he ' does a job' but 7 seasons in we should be looking at a better standard of player imo.

Use the money to give AWB a pay rise. And buy him a cake and a new hat and whatever else he wants.

I see no reason to keep Ayew at all. He has been a waste of kit.
There must be modest priced players out there better than him.

Ayew is one of Swansea's highest earners, that's the issue.

Surely we need to start reducing our wage bill a bit as we have the highest % wage/revenue in the Premier League (78%).

Paying £50k a week for squad players is not the way forward.

Spend the money elsewhere IMHO

What is the point in signing a striker who can't score even if it is only as back up? People say he is more of a winger, but his passing is poor and he's not very strong on the ball. You can't fault his effort, but he is not good enough for us. Given how much space our forwards had on Saturday I thought he was poor aside from the assist (which had an air of fortune). Let's just have Sorloth as backup if Ayew is the best we can come up with. At least we could use the money elsewhere then.

Sorloth has scored just 2 goals in 16 apps for Belgian side Gent.He hasn't scored since early March.

Would rather have Ayew than Sorloth, it I have to have one, but its like asking if you prefer tooth or ear ache

If anyone can suggest a player for £4 million who can play on either wing, up front or as a second striker that is better than him then great, but for that kind of money for a squad that only really has a good first eleven and is severely lacking outside that, it's not a bad deal.
