New goal scorer? I would take any goal scorer! I think Ian Wright is available and I would say he is more old than new.

Benteke cant score goals anymore and Wickham can’t stay fit.

Therefore yes I reckon we need a new one.

Your jumping to conclusions, i hope.

Goes without saying that it would be excellent if Benteke started to score goals but we have all been waiting for seemingly an eternity for him to deliver.

One goal since January, and that from the penalty spot, says it all. Game on game we have been hoping he rediscovers his scoring form and game on game he has been totally abject.I suspect there is little faith amongst supporters that he will cure our ills up front.

Well he has half a season to prove himself, i think we owe him that at least, if by the season end he is no better than now, then i am sure Parish and Roy will call it a day with him.

Yep, can’t disagree with that. Nor should Benteke, he will have been given enough chances by then.

And whose going to buy him?

Forget Benteke (had enough chances) and Sorloth now loaned out...

So how much have we got to spend on one of the many new strikers that have been talked about in the media?

Only 2 weeks left of January now.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'wage bill !!' by bexleydave

Being reported our wage bill last year was £119,000,000 which is crazy, no wonder we have no money to spend.

How much money have we saved this Jan window by letting players go or loaning out.

Not sure how much our turnover is now but surely we are posting losses on accounts

No performance-related pay scheme here then!

We spend far too much on wages, which means when a manager leaves or gets sacked we're left with the elephant in the room that the new manager doesn't want.

I keep thinking short term deals are best.

I haven't seen anything at all that suggests we're on the look out for a new or replacement striker for Sorloth.

Short term with decent bonus for staying up and or winning things.
Got to be better for the club.
If players perform then they get another year.
If not foxtrot oscar with a payoff of three months money.
That only ties you in to a set amount from the bottom line.

Problem is that players don't want that sort of deal

True.
But if a club starts a process others may follow so players then have to choose potential rather than the money
