'imagines' is fine and it was fine in my usage. Let's stop talking about English and spelling.....accusations of sexual assault are far more interesting. Perhaps Steely will reveal some more details about his pernicious sexual guru past.

It wouldn't even get close to making it to trial, even without the statute of limitations. The more I read about it the more I'm surprised that it wasn't dismissed out of hand.

This woman, she is a doctor, has access to all sorts of things ? I think hormones? Screwing her up emotionally ? Or similar but as others post, it really is beyond any sense.

I am not sure but I thought I heard a journalist say that Florida doesn't have a statute of limitations for this type of offense so if there was evidence he could still be charged. Having said that I think the criminal part of this saga is will just fizzle out but not before it has ruined his career guilty or innocent.

The whole thing yesterday was a sham. You had Democrat senator Whitehouse grilling Kavanaugh about flatulence notes in his school year book as a 16 year old. Anyway, would rather have seen Amy Coney Barrett got the nomination for the Supreme Court. She's more conservative than Kavanaugh and attractive too. Edited by Penge Eagle (28 Sep 2018 10.52pm)

I agree. But if someone has been genuinely assaulted but has a case of mistaken identity over three decades later, then what do you do? Then there have been many cases of women who made up allegations and nothing has happened to them. The DJ Dr Fox is one example, his ex-wife was telling me about the trial when I met her last year. My fiancée gave evidence in that trial, and helped get his case thrown out. Totally agree with your point but I still think people should have to be held to account when being in the public eye and in positions of responsibility.

Maybe many of you are not understanding American politics. Nobody is expecting him to be charged or found guilty in a court of law, not even Ford, she is a smart lady. Kavanaugh most definitely does not belong in this lands highest court, not even for the thought that he may or may not have sexually assaulted 1 or more people, but the way he carried himself was not convincing of his non bias and ability to interpret the law as the founding fathers intended. Now we come to Novembers election, more important probably than that of 2 years ago. The Senate is quite easily taken by the Democrats with the current mood in the US, but the house is much harder. But millions are watching how the republicans handle this, and there is no easy way out for them. You may feel its rough politics, but the republicans flat out said no to anybody Obama put up after Scalia died, and basically said they would say no to anyone he put up. I think Trump will win another term if not impeached, sadly enough. He has very low rating, but people, when they are in the voting booth, vote their wallet, and he is at least short term very good for the wallet.
