At the end of the day the manager picks the team. Everyone can see Benteke offers nothing, so why does Roy keep selecting him?

There is nobody better, I watched Sorloth against Swansea U23s and he didn't impress, not a hair out of place.

Yeah can't be any worse. No goals since we have brought him in the PL.

Lets just ruin Benteke even more regarding his confidence. Sorloth and Ayew don't have 15 goals a season in them atm, Benteke could.

Sorry, I thought we were employing Benteke (on a VERY generous wage) to put the ball in the back of the net, hopefully on a regular basis.

IF he has such a lack of confidence that he can't do that, then he should take himself off to a sports psychologist and get himself sorted out so that he can do the job he's paid for.

Benteke just might have 15 goals in him, but this is a Premiership football team not a nursery for insecure players.

well said. Think this is all just running his confidence even further into the ground. The bloke just isn't the player he was a few years ago and theres no real reason for it. Couldn't hurt changing him out.

This isn’t about team selection or missing Wilf. This is about utter nonsense football.

Whether it’s the manager implementing the tactics or the player playing like a bunch of idiots, who knows. But that is the worst half of football I’ve seen Palace play in a long time.

It’s leaving our result to chance, trying to defend everything and then in possession hitting it aimlessly and hoping for the best.

Parish in the summer saying we’re now known as a “footballing team”. Do me a favour

I agree Benteke is not very good, but Sørloth is not the answer. Trying something new does not always lead to better results. For reference maybe check out the Ladapo thread where some people were calling for him to start against Chelsea last season. He didn’t, we won and Ladapo is still crap.

Benteke’s hold up play is light years ahead of Sørloth. I don’t know whatever possessed us to pay £14m for Sørloth. I’d wager those wanting him in have never seen him play.

I’d we were to drop Benteke I think we’d do something like Wilf off Ayew.

Meyer should of started. We need to change our midfield desperately. Only plus Weeds mis pen and 1-0 down. COYP !!

Myer should be starting ahead of McArthur or Schlupp. Had an excellent game in midweek and it's where we're losing on the pitch.

Poor first half from most of the side. We seem so slow (except AWB). Very difficult for the defence as both Ayew and Benteke are offering very little up front. I'd be tempted to put Ward on as right back and push AWB as right wing. Move Townsend to the other wing and take either Ayew or Benteke off.

The reality is that we have nobody to offer creativity without Wilf and nobody running the channels up top and between those two things we can’t keep possession... ever. With all respect to our midfield they are not a creative bunch. I love Macca and Luka but they are more in the Henderson/Dier mould and we desperately need somebody who offers some creativity.

Benteke didn't play against the U23 side. If you think Sorloth is the answer, he isn't otherwise would be playing him.

The game where sorloth scored at chelsea last season, which was wrongly disallowed, I thought his hold up play looked very good. He's not blessed with pace but he's strong on the ball and a good finisher. He's not the option we need but he's the option we have, and I think having benteke on the pitch is like just adding a f*** tonne disappointment and unrest, knocking his confidence more
