We're certainly behind.

Behind?? Our feeble efforts are yet to get off the ground in terms of new signings as the Giauta deal was agreed last window. At least Roy is concerned about the need for two quality replacements.

yes and no. For us to stay up, Zaha needs to be exceptional year in, year out. Not very good, but exceptional. That's also down to luck. That's not really true. Wilf is clearly our best player, but we needed him to be exceptional last year because: - we had a horrific injury crisis Wilf missed a large chunk of the season, and we still finished comfortably ahead of the drop zone. Even if Benteke only scored half the goals from two years ago that already takes a lot of pressure off Zaha.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

To clarify I meant the chairman has been lucky and has been bailed out by the grit and determination of the coaching team and players. For example adapting to a system caused by the chairman not signing a striker due to the Niasse fiasco, then lo and behold benteke gets injured. Parish was the cause of that problem, not the solution. As always you are selective in your reply. Jordan was applauded for his stance on dealing with agents, which ultimately was his downfall. Parish adopts a different stance and buys players who he feels are better than what we have.

I'll be surprised if our net spend this summer was much over £15 million, personally. Some fans & many pundits use ambition and spending as synonyms, when they're not. The club needs to spend what it can, itself, sustain, regardless of the wealth of its owners. If we spend just £15 mil when we need to replace Cabaye firstly before a RLC area player then that’s just as negligent as before and actually not true bearing in mind about £40-£45 mil is normal. I’d expect around £30 the minimum or acceptable.

At least that money we bid for Adamou must be available for a midfielder. I’d bet it is.

But that can't be right. I have been assured (on here, many times) that no transfer activity whatsoever takes place during a World Cup
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I get that WH are richer, but I'd be happy with knowing we tried. Take whatever Ward is on, add 50% and a year's wages as a signing on fee and offer it to Fredericks.
