I’m feeling a sense of deja vu, Johnno, but...indeed; come on Iceland!

Of course the big game of the weekend is tomorrow. Serbia (Luka) vs Costa Rica

Absolutely. Nothing against Costa Rica but I hope Serbia score 4 and Luka gets them all.

I found myself cheering on Jedi. I hate the players collapsing holding their face-routine that is common even in League Two these days and clearly favoured by the French wing-back who was rightfully booed for much of the game by the Aussies. Re the penalty: wasn't the clip on the back ankle grounds for a penalty-even if the defender touched the ball at the start of the tackle?

Quite enjoyed watching Iceland's defensive dicipline.

I am all for VAR and it is becoming really accurate.

This is what we want, above all, accuracy.

However I am really confused over that decision, the Aussie defenders tackle clearly made contact with the ball first.

The pundits split down the middle after as well.

So we are now faced with 'interpretation' of the VAR?

May have touched it - may not. But it certainly was not clear. Even the pundits are split and they have seen it back numerous times from numerous angles.

Must be clear though or what is the point of the VAR.

Yes, unless the player is wearing a red and blue shirt and his name begins with a Z. In that case of course it's a yellow card instead.

I thought that was a pen, and so was the one the ref gave Peru just now and which they fluffed. But then I also thought Denmark should have had one just after that for a whole series of agricultural assaults in the box.

I've really enjoyed the majority of the matches so far. Most of the teams seem a bit more adventurous in the first matches then I remember from previous World Cups.

Today is the biggie here at Chez Barr. My Stick It To Trump Mexico plays My Daughter Erin's Germany. Sh's actually rooting for Germany! Where did I go wrong?

Yeah. We taught him his football, they taught him his amateur dramatics.

Hat's off to the organisers of this World Cup, especially for the introduction of VAR and Russia as a host quite refreshing all round.
