Now his finishing has come on leaps and bounds but can anyone honestly say he is a natural finisher? He is probably worth about £50 million but I would be gutted if we sold him for that. I would be gutted if we sold him for £100 mill to be honest. He is worth more to us than any team will probably be willing to pay. I hope he stays for a long time yet but if he continues to improve as he has, there's no way he will be here to see out his cotract. Pretty much this.

This has been addressed. £50 mil buy in from the Americans and then we’re short by one transfer window of transfer fees which will be mortgaged no doubt. To pay for the new stand in one go by selling the player we couldn’t win a game without would be the most suicidal thing we could do by design. Thankfully Parish is smarter than that and only takes chances we have a chance of coming out ok with. Parish knows we have to do all the right things together to build Palace to where he sees us being and probably selling at our peak so apart from kicking off the season with 1 striker or any other night nonsense like new managers totally unsuited to our players we have little in the big picture or Everton bids for Wilf to be concerned about. Also selling Wilf to pay for the new stand would be almost impossible as we owe Man U as % of any profit. Not quite sure what this - some have quoted as high as 50% - but it will not be less than 20% as we pushed the re-purchase price quite low (think the £6m paid includes the £3m loan fee we had already committed to). So even if we sold Wilf for £100m we could end up paying Man U something like £30m to £40m. This is before even considering buying a replacement player. Not as much left as you think after that is deducted too

Will Wilf ever want to repeat his experience at Manure? Why would he want to sit out whole matches to allow other £50m players to play?

Be sensible. If Sterling cost 50 mil, then Wilf is worth at least double. Anyway, don't sell, the Wright sale illustrated what happens when you sell your best players

Tbh, he's only leaving if he requests to leave and Parish thinks it would cause more harm than good keeping an unhappy Wilf. I don't think he'd cause much drama, but if he really wanted to go I don't think we could stand in his way. In that case I would imagine we would ask for something around £70m. If he wants to stay, which I think he does, then I can't see us entertaining any offers below £100m

We didn't want to sell him but couldn't force him to stay obviously. Just like Kenny Sansom, Peter Taylor, and others before and after him. Edited by Jamesey (23 May 2018 10.58am)

Simple questions. If he was sold, 1)Who would replace him I think you would find that to replace him with someone of the same quality would cost us almost as much as the sale proceeds. In my opinion, he will only be sold if he forces a move. I cannot really see a scenario where we would want to sell him unless perhaps we were relegated.

Wilf wont go this year but needs to be clarified very early before we even look at tranfers. The only reason he will leave probably next season would be for champions league football . And lastly if we are relagated in the next couple of years then we could rebuild team to come back up with his sale fee .
