The only club that are smaller than us and currently higher than us in the league are Burnley. Parish has a transfer policy of signing 1 big name player a season. In the last few games we've had a full strength squad and been formidable. The risk is that the squad isn't very deep - but you have to take risks. We could go on for ages trying to convince people we have an excellent chairman, but they will only focus on the mistakes or the lack of a magic money tree. The question really should be - how many English clubs have a better chairman than us?

Tosun didn’t happen because of the time we approached in August and them not having someone lined up themselves. He signed for Everton in January. .....and hasn't been missed!!

Parish is obviously a very good chairman but we are riding our luck with things like one left back or one striker or one keeper and I’m sure Parish knows this now, whether by himself or from Roy laying it out to him in an honesty he respects and trusts. Without the miracle working of Roy none of us, even Parish who turned to him, would’ve thought Roy would’ve been this good. I really hope Parish gets us sorted in time but after seeing great form into January and then what happened, I’m not convinced. Oh and the big signing every summer is more because our scouting and contacts are very thin rather than Parish actually wanting to spend £30 mil and £100-£130k per week in wages on one player when the break even amount is about £45+ mil or a bit more for all signings.

Yes but you still have some thinking and saying Parish has done nothing wrong and got it all right, despite Parish saying he hasn’t. You could say the same about Clattenf^Hburg. There will always be some who think a prominent figure is infallible and some who think everything he touches turns to s***e. The truth is generally somewhere in the middle, of course. Anyone who expects everything Parish (or anyone else) attempts to work out is onto plumbs and anyone who thinks he's Mr Bean should have a look at the state Stoke and West Brom are in. When Parish appointed de Boer he had been decent in Holland so there was at least a reason to think he could do a job here. Plug pulled in time and decent replacement made. West Brom OTOH appointed Pardew FFS despite the horrendous arse he had already made of the same position and despite already having Pulis in post. Plug pulled too late for even an excellent managerial performance to keep them up. But the all-time prize for football club Board stupidity must go to Birmingham City, who were cruising along in seventh in the Championship when they sacked Rowett and replaced him with "big name" Zola who was a total basket case and very nearly got them relegated. Those who would want rid of Parish should be careful what they wish for. Edited by chateauferret (10 May 2018 10.44pm)

Certainly don’t want Parish gone. We just can’t rely on one striker or one player for a position. It’ll either hamstring us or p1ss a decent manager off enough to quit. Other positions are interchangeable unlike striker or left back or goal keeper or you have several players for midfield or CB.

Parish is a respected chairman but mustn’t leave his managers with 1 player in a specialist position in this day and age. Dilly dilly. Dilly dilly.

Thing with Parish is, we could do a lot worse. But, we could also do better - it's the devil you know right? Thing is, Parish has been making mistakes which as a club, we think are avoidable, yet it happens. I think other clubs have had similar mistakes too, but we don't dissect it like we do our own. I see Parish now leaning toward listening to people in the business, rather than doing what he thinks is right. Let's be honest, we don't need a big name signing each year; when you look at the likes of Andros, Cabaye, Tomkins, Milo, McArthur - imagine getting a striker or two of that quality - would be ideal. We have a huge chance of finishing tenth in the prem, with out a recognized 'star' striker for most of the season with only 3 goals to his name. It's about finding what fits, rather than buying what we think will fit. With Sorloth, Wickham, Benteke i would love to see another striker added that is reminiscent of AJ, dougie, even clinton.

Good call. Of course we all want a star striker but I would settle for a striker that got 12 goals if the price was reasonable as the poster says we need a "dougie type" .

Striker siituation - some seem to be blaming Mr Parish for the fact that Benteke couldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards this season and Wickham has been injured for an age. a squad at any level of football needs 4 strikers, one of which can be up and coming. Palace had 2 one of whom had a long term injury. This is unacceptable at any level, in the Prem it's a joke
