Despite what you say Mrs May we are still on this one.... The Home Office is to be given sweeping data protection exemptions that will prevent anyone seeking information about their immigration status in future, campaigners for the Windrush generation are warning. Challenging the Home Office’s notoriously poor decision-making in immigration cases will become far more difficult and result in miscarriages of justice, a wide range of civil rights groups, the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI), lawyers and political opponents allege. The legislation will also lower data protection standards for the Home Office, according to campaigners, so that it no longer needs to handle data transparently, fairly and lawfully. It would not prevent the destruction of vital records such as Windrush-generation landing cards, for example.

A growing number of cases of Home Office mistreatment of non-Caribbean Commonwealth-born citizens are emerging, indicating that the problem is likely to spread beyond the Windrush group. Immigration charities and MPs reported that numerous new cases had been reported this week of individuals from countries from India, Kenya and Cyprus to Canada. Looks like Windrush could be the tip of an iceberg.......

I wonder if we are now going to have the opposite, young men claiming they are pensioners and part of the Windrush generation?

Less benefit perhaps but pensioners still spend money Yep, plus the input they put into families both on the cultural, pastoral and educational side. Decent people reinvest into their own families.....Less decent people contribute to families breaking up and causing problems for the rest of us (though that is a very simplistic summary of an often complex situation). In a general sense older people have a very beneficial impact within society without even mentioning the contribution they made when younger.

Genuinely confused by your position on this. You seem to be trying to beat up Rudd and May for this, despite it being cocked up when May was 15 years old, and many years of Labour government since then to correct it if they wished. Do you not believe illegal immigrants should be deported? Do you believe the child dependents of Windrush who arrived without their own passport should get citizenship (I totally agree with that) Do you think the rules should be relaxed for ALL migrants?

Do you mean like a general amnesty yes I support that. Hopefully the tories have lost the non-white vote this time, would swing the next election I think. We have only seen the tip of this.

So we no longer deport illegal immigrants? For ever or just for a period? Any qualifying criteria, or do we basically just open the doors to anyone who fancies it?
