A shrewd analysis, dp, although I wouldn't want my life to depend on an Arsenal win - ever. Except against us. Edited by YT (08 Apr 2018 1.26pm) Here we go: ‘Arsenal make 7 changes against Southampton’
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

For what it’s worth I think we will absolutely batter BHA next week at least 3-1. They are piss poor and despite yesterday’s result we’re playing well, and due a hefty win.

I'm not saying we can't win, but what makes you think they are piss poor? They've done fairly well against all the sides around us, which would imply they're at the level of Newcastle or so..

Survival will be decided in the final two games vs Stoke and WBA. Those are definite should wins, and must-wins.

so according to your stats we're already 2 points adrift. After next Saturday it will be 5 unless we start learning how to defend and score goals! My stats? I don't know how you work that out. I said I thought we would get four points in our first three games; and four points in our second three games. So we are on track. I certainly don't think we will be five points behind after next week.

Southampton lose today and they have some tricky games in the run including Chelsea, Everton and Man City. We are still in there fighting and that's all we can ask at this stage.

Arsenal squeaked past Southampton meaning we end the weekend a point further away from the relegation zone. Phew.

Southampton looked impressive and were unlucky - maybe Hughes is having an effect. But they still have the worst run-in: home to Chelsea, Bournemouth, Man City; away at Leicester, Everton, Swansea. Plus they have the distraction of the Cup. Bookies have them third favourite for the drop at roughly evens. Our odds are around an optimistic 8-1.

I understand everyone looking at that arsenal saints game today with the hope saints would lose (I was) but I think when it comes down to it, Southampton will survive. They have a good side and played really well today and most importantly had a lot of belief and fight in them. This means that I think our main relegation rivals are Huddersfield and stoke. And to be honest, if we can’t finish above Huddersfield with our run in, we deserve to be relegated. Saints are obviously in the mix but I do think they will get the it of it, they have Chelsea at home next week, after today’s performance, I can see them getting something. They also have a game in hand

Like you I keep trying to look at things through the cold eyes of the bookies and hoping they've got it right. Bit worried about mentality at the moment though.
