He keeps getting better and better. Gets a lot of cover from Tomkins and Townsend when he is caught out of position too. Hopefully he'll continue to improve - I don't see why he can't see out the rest of the season as our first choice right back.

They're the ones who fight against attacks like that for a hundred minutes without making mistakes or giving the ball back to them as soon as they've won it. On that basis I'd sooner have Tomkins then Smalling or Stones, for example. In which case you’d be wrong. People talk about big club bias, but it’s logical that the big clubs will either own or buy the top talent over time. Not a slight on Tompkins at all, in my mind a good contender for player of the season. He’s exactly the sort of player we need more of, not a superstar but quietly a cracking premier league cb.

Well worth the journey today. A real gem and a pleasure to watch. Just shows that sometimes a number of injuries in the team is all that is needed and suddenly we unearth a gem. Sounds like there are a few more pushing for a place too and I hope in time they get their chance, although the money in the game now and the importance of staying in the league means it will be unlikely unless we get another horrific run of injuries. Maybe pre season will be the time for Roy to have a look, and for now lets just get ourselves safe as soon as possible!

Well let's see how they get on in the World Cup finals, will we? The last two international finals have been an embarrassment. And I reckon that defenders who haven't the experience of defending for a hundred minutes solid won't cut it when England come under sustained pressure against flair attacks. "Top talent" big-money players might be right for the teams they play in, but England is not City. Edited by chateauferret (17 Mar 2018 9.44pm)

Looks a good prospect. Noticed Tompkins picked on his positional sense needs to improve. Not quite sure in the last 5 minutes why he was powering forward when we were 2-0 up. One of the times towards the end when we lost possession Huddersfield ended up with a clear shot at goal as he and Townsend were up the park. Ok if we are 1-0 down but no need when we are 2-0 up.

Why do so many on here get players names wrong? It's Tomkins NOT Tompkins. Nice easy name to spell.

He has got the ability to give the forward a head start and still beat him to the ball and get the ball away. He caught Rashford of Man Utd no problem, and that is no mean feat... He has got the potential to go to the top and has just broken into the England Under 21’s set up. His tackling reminds me of Des Walker and he was a class act...

Hopefully he is a sensible lad and won’t let all the media attention get to him. Quite remarkable really when you look at the players he is now keeping out the team. Good luck to him!

The worst are the people that post sarcy comments under posts pointing out the OP’s error. Regarding AWB, he looks absolutely class. Agree re his positional sense, but that will come. Have to say he has very much had a baptism of fire with the matches we have had. His skill to get past someone at 2 -0 up and put a great cross over to Macca was excellent, just wish it had been Benteke there, would have capped an excellent day. Him and Lokilo and maybe Kirby are the only ones right now that I think are good enough to be in the first team picture, but we will see in pre-season Edited by coulsdoneagle (18 Mar 2018 10.38am)

They just have to go to the CPFC website or even this website's home page to see the correct spellings. The only people who moan about this are those that can't admit they are wrong, lazy and show no respect for the team they support.
