I agree.

Nicky is excellent- shame he isn’t allowed to kick and knee! Would be game over in 3 rounds.

I still can't get over it, I like smith and obviously he's english but I have to support Holzken. That Braehmer is a bottle job, he lost his title not long ago because he refused to get off the stool, now he's dropping out due to illness.
I know Holzen has had a few pro boxing fights but noway he should be the replacement, they must be banking on his star power in Holland and the kickboxing world to boost the ratings. I'm certainly not missing this now!

Quite possibly still will be, his boxing record to date is against a complete shower of s***e.

This is what you get for arranging fights in Germany, where they simply do not have the depth of talent. Most of the big fights that have been in Germany in the last 20 years, haven't even featured German boxers. They take the likes of the Klitschkos, Chagaev, Valuev, Abraham and pretend like they're German.

I promise you Holzken will give a better performance in this boxing match than any Super middle weight boxer thats ever walked this earth would give against Holzken in a K1 match. They are doing it for ratings, Holzken is a big name in the kickboxing world.

I couldn't care less what the reverse situation would be as that scenario isn't what is happening.

They're doing it because he's local, cheap and has no chance of causing an upset. They don't want someone getting to the final of this tournament on the back of a single win, and they want Groves v Smith as it'll make a fortune in tickets and PPV in the UK. This bloke hasn't even stepped up to 12 round fights yet!

If Sauerland had any balls he'd be sticking in Tyron Zuege who is on his books and Germany's only current champion, and is the WBA regular belt holder at Super middleweight.

Nieky Holzken will not be cheaper than Tyron Zuege, If Sauerland was confident Tyron Zuege would be competitive then he would obviously put him in the tourny to begin with, and they are both local, infact Tyron hasn't fought outside of Germany... Nieky has. Its a ratings grabs without a doubt, and its worked on me I can't wait to watch it even though I know it won't be very competitive.

I didn't say he'd be cheaper, I said he's cheap. As oppose to getting in an actual established boxer.

Sauerland clearly wasn't and isn't confident that Zuege would win (one fight, never mind 3 of them) and doesn't want to risk his only German title holder.

Of course Holzen has fought outside Germeny, as he's Dutch, but he is still local. Nothing to do with ratings, it's a quick and easy fix. It will sell next to no PPVs even though it's about half the price of last weekend's fight.

Whilst this isn't Smiths fault - his resume is quite appalling. No one even near world class on there.

If Groves does not recover in time it would not surprise me if they then matched Smith with another replacement for the final.

Theres also the fact that its a late replacement, nobody worth there salt is going to accept a fight on 1 week notice. This is a very smart replacement as he's a bigger draw than most boxers they could attract on such a notice.

They couldn't do that it would be a joke. If Groves is injured they have to postpone it. Imagine a final without Groves in it, added to the fact that 2 of the best super middleweights aren't even in the tourney, Degale and Ramirez.

You know that, I know that, but I wonder if the powers that be know or care about that.

Its quite incredible how Smith has been matched so far in his career. Nothing would surprise me.

To be fair, Degale lost the last time out, however you are correct about Ramirez.
