Agree. I have a Charlton friend and I am glad we don't have their chairman. He is trying to sell the club but so far the suitors appear to be as bad as he is. Thank god for Parish. Mistakes and all I would rather have him than some of the football club owners like Oyston at Blackpool. ------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure why he has to explain anything? Nobody in this club stands to lose as much, personally, as SP if we go down, and, more importantly, nobody knows exactly what goes on behind the scenes - who did we go in for? Why didn't we get them? What were the plans? Those are all business sensitive details - we may be back in for some of our targets, we don't want anyone else knowing our red lines or they can use them against as (bidding £1 a week above our salary ceiling, for instance). I'm glad I don't have the responsibility (and skin in the game in terms of cash), and I'm disappointed with transfer activity and injuries, but happy to let the people whose job it is to worry about it worry about it!

Saying how good Parish has been because of our 5th year in the prem is great but the problem is coming out of every window under equipped, apart from Sam's January window, and there's no signs of it changing.

Given the squad we have it seems clear that the mistakes that have been made by the ownership have continually held us back. Not sacking Pardew earlier very nearly took us down, also backing him to rebuild and 'evolve the playing side' or whatever bollocks catchprase they used was a massive waste of an opportunity, as it nearly dismantled what got us up here in the first place. Then the failure to keep on to Sam (and IMHO it's clear as day he thought we weren't a good long term proposition and was always coming back to the game), the disaster of the summer with De Boer, then failing to back him in the window, the massive, ridiculous gamble with having one striker on the books, the sun coming up, two keepers at the club over two conseqtive T/windows, no cover for the wingers... I appreciate under Parish we got promotion, and have stayed there, but it's been far more down to luck than judgement in recent years, and that cannot last. He keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over, yet seems to get more arrogant and flippant about the potentialities of them going tits up. I fully expect Roy to walk this summer, giving Parish his hat trick of capable managers that walk out on him after one season.

He may leave because he is in his 70's and he's had enough, but walk because of Parish, no, I think Roy is more of a pragmatist than that and he knows that Palace can't afford to buy a team into the top 6.

You cant honestly think Roy will be happy when he looks round the squad at training today? Admittedly we could not have provisioned for all the injuries but we had ample time to have done better. Roy publicly came out saying what we wanted. Again in his press conference mentions a goal keeper and striker as an area for the spare spot in the 25. Surely, surely he will be think what the hell have Dougie and Steve been doing. You cannot blame him for not feeling supported in terms of the squad. He has done an outstanding job to get us where we are and may think I kept my side of the bargain, what have you done? We've all debated this point over and over but theres no one who can defend the last two windows. And yes I know about the lad from Malmo and the striker from the Danish league. Fingers crossed these two can contribute- maybe they will prove to be Steve and co's get out of jail cards. Edited by MonsterMunch (09 Feb 2018 11.04am)

You seem to have a conveniently short memory. How does the following stack up - Sure there have been some mistakes/frustrations along the way but actually not that many in my book. Remember also that this is a club functioning on gates of 25,000 max - not big by PL standards. My instincts are to get behind him - endless criticism tends to ultimately drive someone away. Who is it you want to take over?

Who is it you want to take over? Yes get all that and certainly not knocking him for any of that, But this all needs to be managed in conjunction with the most important aspect, the squad of players. Its a difficult job but its what he signed up to. We are in the big league now and should and could have done better. Steve also does not help himself with the comments he comes out with raising expectations etc and then knocking all all back down. I honestly think he needs more media training. Lets assume that we stay up finishing around 15th. What's in it for Roy, having saved his reputation, if he believes (as i suspect he does) that Parish is unreliable, deceptive and ultimately will let him down in the transfer market. He will have performed superbly in keeping us up, and will have one more year on his current deal. Why risk that rep that he's just saved, by another relegation struggle under a chairman who is failing to back him in the market? If he gets a bit more bad luck, he either has a relegation on his final year in the game, or maybe if things go really badly, gets sacked. If, as i suspect, he doesnt rate parish or trust him to competently do his job, then why gamble another year under him, rather get out on a high.

Only you has mentioned the top 6. Roy kept raising needing a keeper and we didn't get one. If Roy thinks he's going to go into next season half c0cked with a shambles of a window then anyone may walk. We all know it.

Roy is a company man, but if he is anything other than livid with the window behind the scenes, then he's being made a mug of IMHO.
