SSN says a deal has been agreed for £9m subject to them finding a replacement.

Sounds a bit expensive, but if he turns out to be decent it'll be money well spent.

22 has years ahead of him, so fingers crossed this gets finished and he doesn't flop.

Some what flat if this is our only forward signing though...

I’d rather a hungry player with something to prove.

Benteke can produce at this level. Being hungry and having something to prove doesn't mean chips if you don't have the ability to up your level....I mean, do you think this lad wasn't hungry at international level or something?

That being said, his lack of success at international level may be due to the formation they play......I don't know so we will see either way....I'm hopeful same as you.

unheard of foreigners with average CVs costing millions -- could be s***, could be worldies, mightn't even come -- this is what it's all about.

Exciting if we going to make this transfer happen before the deadline. Fc Midtjylland still haven’t signed a replacement yet, so it could go down to the wire.

Last time we tried to sign a striker from the Danish league was in the January window 2014. Back then it was Simon Makienok from Brondby IF, the deal didn’t happen because our bid came in to late for Brondby to find a replacement.

Hope history don’t repeats itself

By the way, Simon Makienok now plays plays in FC Utrecht on loan from Preston where he was a disaster. So we dodged a bullet back then.

Feels a bit like Collymore to me. A nearly man who may have a short period of stellar success at some point.

The Collymore situation is annoying.....we were the nursery and never had the benefit of it.....though like you said, because of his multiple problems his star was short lived.

Sorloth is young.....when you look at the records of young strikers they often look like his.....hopefully we are joining up at the right time and he will blossom here....but we have brought 'potential' rather than what happened with Benteke......which is to be expected with our current budget.

It was the transfers of Freedman....with the understated help of Popovic (a possible future manager) that transformed us from a lowly Championship side in danger of oblivion to a side that got promoted despite us only having an average budget and attendance.....the casual fan never appreciates just how amazing that was.

Despite the fact that Freedman failed everywhere once he left these shores......I'm hopeful that he retains that Palace magic that he always had when he had our colours..

Simon Makienok was already 24 back in 2014. The striking thing about him is that he's 2,01 tall!!! So a huge lump, with very little mobility. By the age of 22 (which is what Sorloth is today) he hadn't had much playing time or goals in the Danish Superligaen. But he had 2 good seasons until 24 (about 30 goals in 4000 minutes). Then came the offers.
He's been underwhelming for Preston: 11 goals and 6 assists in 3400 minutes, but not horrible. That's what you get for 2 million.

They're different things. Asante is a 1,70 winger. Sorloth is a 1,90 center forward.

Kirkevold is in no way Premier League level. Heck, I understand you want to save money, but not like this. Plus, he's 27, not 22 like Sorloth

You are correct and it is exactly what I write
I newer said you should buy Asante or Kirkevold just that they would be Better Buys
I on the other hand said it would be like when Cardiff bought Cornelius and see how that endet (in my opinion Cornelius was Better and more proven)

10 goals in 19 games nr 4 om top goal score list in Denmark
1 goal in 12 games for norway
And was not good enough for Dutch football

I am sorry but it is money ot of the window and FCM Will lough all the way to the bank

Not sure he looks bad, but the league looks like our division 1 at best. Think he's got a big big jump to prove he's ready for PL.

Might work out, but £9m sure does feel hefty considering the level of football it looks like he's been playing in.

That said he does look big, does seem to have a decent touch on him. Not sure he's powerful enough for PL yet but guess that'll come in a season or two.

Hope we give him the time as i think he'll need it.

Is it an answer for what we need right now?

Very much doubt it, but hopefully wrong.

Yes I am afraid I wholeheartedly agree. Hopen to be proved wrong if he comes, but if you can't cut it in the Dutch eredivisie, you will need to have improved a superhuman amount in a few years, to be able to make it in the PL. 9m is a joke really, but of course everybody knows the prices have inflated and will keep inflating with every new TV deal.

I was saying the same thing about Luka and his time in the Belgian league. But that turned out pretty good isn’t it?

Better 9 millionfor 22 yo Sorloth with actual accomplishments in Denmark than 6 million for 26 yo Hugill with very minor feats in the Championship
