Edited by Willo (06 Oct 2020 3.12pm) A suitable partner for Benteke then! if Palace do sign Welbeck and keep him fit (fingers crossed) then Hodgson knows him well, and would maybe allow Wilf to revert to his wide player role? If Palace do sign Benrahma, then that give Palace two tricky wideplayers, some good strikers, and Eze as an attacking midfielder? Oh and welcome back Willo!

I don't think I am deserving of such a welcome but I am humbled by the kind sentiments.Thank you very much. Regards Welbeck, Darren Ferguson signed him on loan for Preston, from Man Utd, when his father Alex Ferguson was manager. Both Welbeck and Beckham went on loan to Preston from Man Utd but Beckham of course a lot earlier.

Probably slightly better than the signing of Adebayor.

What do you think Welbeck would demand in wages these days? 40k per week? For a free might actually be worth a punt.

I can imagine Roy right now on his knees in Parish's office begging to sign Welbeck and probably Wilshere too What would be wrong with that - if both on frees..!! Get both up and firing would be excellent additions to our squad..!! Look in these unprecedented times there ain’t a whole lot of money available...!! We have no idea how long before match day revenue/gate receipts will return - as a club you have to budget for this. Irrespective of what ever happens, life including football will never be the same again - gravy train is over...!! There will be real casualties from this - teams in the lower echelons will just go out of business/existence it’s inevitable they just cannot survive with no match day revenue. Be thankful we ain’t likely to be one of those - meantime we need to be prudent in/with our business to steer us through these unprecedented times. I for one am happy with our business in what are really difficult circumstances..!! COYP
