As someone through his work passes this venue on many a late Saturday night, along with the taxis, people drunk in the road, you will so often see Police outside this venue because one would assume problems inside or out. Its a nightmare to pass this venue because of the "Situations", so you have to do a detour via the Morrison junction. It appears people just want to slag off footballers on their nights off and go over the top, many a reported story, when a footballer was pushed too far, but we dont know yet about this one. I didnt pass here on saturday as I had the day off and was in Leicester (what class palace was!) Many many years ago I was on a night out with Steve Galliers and friends(he came from Wimbledon to Palace " target="_blank">[Link] and people just picked on him who werent palace fans, so I learned back there, how impossible it was for them to have time out. When someone walked up to him and spilt drink over his suit, rather than react, he did the best thing, He said lets leave and go for a meal..... I know its not the same, but last season when Pape was dropped from the Middlesbrough match through injury but before we knew it, he was in a terrible accident with 24 hours. Now Punch was not on the bench, he goes out and get into trouble....

His dip in form coincided with Pardews expansive football experiment , improved with the more basic Fat Sam system and dropped off again under pass it again FDB . Given that Roys type of football would be more to his liking I see no reason why he could not get back to his best . If not that would be a same as he is obviously a talent . Getting nicked outside a nightclub at chucking out time is not reserved for the guilty ,wrong uns or drunks . On that matter we should reserve judgment .

If what has been reported turns out to be true I can see a hefty fine and an end to his Palace career either now,in January or at the end of the season if he is lucky to last that long. No doubt he is Palace through and through and I'm sure he is in deep regret, but being club captain and having been a professional for so long, he should have known better than to get involved. Things were not going great for Punch as it was, but no one really wanted it to end this way for him I'm sure.

No one knows what happened, so maybe people should shut the f*** up and wait and see.

Edited by kenbarr (19 Dec 2017 2.16am) Sadly, the idealistic standards of dear old Rumpole (and indeed Gilbert & Sullivan) are cast to windward in this day and age: Trial by Jury has now been very successfully replaced by Trial by Social Media whose instant verdict is taken as cast iron, no matter what the jury later decides according to the actual facts of the matter....
