Exactly, My view (previous 2 posts)

I have mixed views on what he did but the fact that he was willing to stand up and take the risk say's to me that he does care about the club.

If he starts scoring goals then we will stay up if he doesnt we are in trouble, so like it or not we just have to get behind him and just stay in this division and then get a new striker next year.

The chances of us signing a decent striker in January is slim to none so we need Benteke.

I am praying he scores a couple of goals on Tuesday night then we can all move on.

Would be a disgrace if he was picked for the next match.

How anyone can say he cares for the club when he bullied Luka off the ball and went against the managers decision to take the kick himself.

And then the kick its self... absolute shambles of a kick. We are meant to think this guy cares about the club when he pushes a guy with 100% conversion rate off the ball so he can take a half arsed pen him self.

Alternative striker or not... Benteke has got to benched at the very least.

Oh and talking of caring about the club...? Where's his apology?

f***ing nowhere to be seen that's where....

I am not sure he has got it in him, he has got a strange attitude if you ask me. Anyone else, if you had failed at taking a penalty the way he takes them you would try something else, not carry on with the same predictable method.

I'm still angry and it's nearly midnight the next day...

A little story. My home club TFC here in Toronto had Jermaine Defoe a few years ago. We had a situation where we had a free kick a bit outside the 18 yd box and this was usually Defoe's territory but we also had a higher end striker from Brazil named Gilberto who was not having a good season and was scoreless.

He wrestled the ball away from Defoe and set up for the kick and put a rocket up into the upper right corner with all the frustration and anger of his season to that point behind it. Thankfully it sailed over the wall because it would have killed anyone in front of it. Even Defoe laughed.

My point is.. if you take the ball away from someone, you better be sure about what you're doing.

Chop out the dead wood. Flog wickham and benteke in January. Strikers who are cracked or useless. Get someone else in. Can't get any worse can it

He behaved like an egotistical prat going for glory. No one would have minded had he scored it. Fine balance. However said it several times why was the captain not taking charge and bossing the situation. Drama at every turn with this club

I think this points out the problem with having your GK as captain. He's just not physically situated in any place where he can have an impact. He'd have to run the length of the field to get to the action. GK as captain to me is just a total mistake regardless of who he is.

Can anyone remember when it was that he fluffed a pen after a similar Billy Big Bollocks insistence on taking it? It was in the Pardew era and Pardew said "Oh, we just let the players decide who takes the penalty", which is the diametric opposite of what Hodgson said after the Bournemouth game.

It was bad enough then but in those days you could reasonably argue that Cabaye and Puncheon were also quite s***e at penalties. But when you're standing next to Milivojevic FFS!?

Nobody stepped in to tell benteke he shouldn't be anywhere near a penalty puncheon would have had the guts to tell him play him till January then sell him to big sam or villa on loan

If we get relegated and the difference is 2 points, then Saturday's penalty miss will be the talking point. Head down and smash it, in my opinion is far better than walking up to it and passing it to the keeper.

100% this.

We have a designated penalty-taker. End of.

My worry is that the crowd will boo him tomorrow. As much as I hate him for what he did, whether he's a sub or a starter, we have to get behind him.

It's for the manager to sort him out and for us to cheer on the team.

We're not blessed with strikers and he does still hold the ball well and win headers.

That said, 4-4-2 with Andros and Wilf up top for me with Jimmy Mac, Loftus Cheek, Mili, Cabaye (if fit) in the middle.
