How does Roy approach this in the dressing room ? Benteke obviously screwed up everyones hard work with his selfishness, yet at the same time you ask your striker to be selfish.
I do think the acting captain should have grown a pair and done what everyone on the field and in the stands expected, i.e. have Milo take the penalty, there is nothing more consistent in our team than Milo hitting the back of the net on a penalty.

That's exactly what I thought when we were awarded it.

Too many pussies in our ranks, which explains the continual errors and not wanting to be shown up by just doing the basics.

He could have at least wellied it.

Those tap in penalties are a one off. ANd they're risky.

Or, on the other hand, he could run up and dived low at the ball and headed it.

His headers always seem to go in

Would have confused the hell out of the keeper too.

Just an idea

One thing is for sure, if he plays against Watford which I’m not sure he will, he owes the fans and the club a massive performance.

This really pisses me off. ‘No one could take the ball off him’. What absolute bollocks. No one had the bollocks to take it off him more like. I’ve seen games where there’s been blaring rows, pushing and shoving and general rucking about whose pen it is. Benteke wanted it a d the pussies in our side folded. Where was the arguements? ‘ couldn’t take it off him’ my arse. Spineless team more like. Luka should have pulled rank. It was his pen. He surrendered it.

I suspect that Hodgson has said this for a reason. Ie back in the dressing room im sure Benteke will get 98% blame but the other players on the field at the time will get some grief for not stopping it.

Outrageous this has happened and outrageous no one stopped it.

And then such a lame pen what was he thinking.

These two points could be vital.

I've always said we'd be safe and now I'm not so sure.

Benteke has to be dropped just has to be dropped after such indiscipline..

I worry what this saga will do to the team moral for the next couple of crucial games.

Roy said the captain takes decisions on the field. On yesterday's evidence, I don't we'll ever be seeing Dann wear the armband again. (I presume he was in charge after Sakho went off and he came on?). A shambles.

despite what Roy said I didn't see him wrestle the ball off anyone. Milo just led him walk up and take it. The captain should have stepped him but Scott isn't a confrontational person and so not a leader which is what we needed in this situation.

I think selling him would be a massive mistake

He des have considerable talents

This penalty miss shame is the perfect opportunity to shame him into showing us what he's got.

Yes, he's made a selfish mistake.

But at least he did it because he wanted to score.

Let's not chuck away the baby with the bathwater

Punish him, yes. But give him a chance to redeem himself. He has got fantastic talent. He now needs a rocket up his arse in order to deliver on those talents.

Why do we keep ditching all these expensive cars just because they are backfiring?

Surely it's better to fine tune them.

Why are people saying Dann was responsible for intervening because he was captain?

Speroni was captain.

As for who was in charge of the situation that was Milivojevic, who had to choose between giving way and having a physical confrontation.

The fact that the players were all on the same team doesn't mean that violent conduct wouldn't have been a red card and a three-match ban.

School playground behaviour. Big brawny boy wants the glory, picks up the ball and nobody willing to take it off him. Wonder if somebody had tried Tekkers would of run off with it in a sulk.
