Latest on stewards confirms what I was told last night. $%seholes!!

I wouldn't believe a word of that statement. To many points have already been proven to be false. Brighton f***ed up the ticketing and stewarding in my opinion, and that statement is just the usual spin to try and get the heat away from them.

Was a bit embarrassing. We’ve got a lot of numb nuts following our club. Not surprising given the surrounding areas.

From what I've picked up on social media and on here is that hundreds of fans with valid tickets were forced back to the station because ticketless fans got in. The hf already had a couple of hundred tickets so why would they need to bum rush the show? Who was it then?
Added into the mix is the setting off of flares which probably didn't help the fans outside cause if I'm honest.

Was there room inside for 300 more supporters? Hearing mixed reports on that one.

Also heard that some of the hf started having a pop at some palace fans whilst kettled in after the game. That's from a reliable source.

Have I missed anything or got anything wrong?

Sounds like security at the ground was shoddy. A Brighton fan tweeted 'how come my deodorant was confiscated but there were flares in the away end ' She had a point.

Didnt see any of this at all...it was all good natured, if anything was a highlight it was the brave BHA sould from behind the Police who were goading us and then getting pulled away by old bill...most of then 16yr olds

As for the security...it was a joke. TWO body searches, iD checks and then a sniffer dog and they still managed to miss 8 flashbangs and 8 smoke bombs...shoddy doesnt even start to cover it!

As for the game...two average teams

When I left, I was told by an Officer that 30! had got in via a door left open by a BHA Steward/Staff member...seems if this were to be true that BHA panicked big time unable to handle the pressure and made a knee jerk reaction adding a Zero to the likely figure in order to try and justify the subsequent actions.

Yeah this is my thought chain too. I had my ticket and ID checked by two separate stewards and was searched on entry. Lots of police and stewards out the front, so it would have been neigh on impossible for someone to jump the gate as being mentioned.

Brighton f***ed up, and are trying to cover themselves with all this PR. Granted, Palace fans haven't helped themselves in glory with the bangers and flares, but the fans being kept outside are all due to Brighton and the polices failures.

This to me is an utter failure on the part of the police & Brighton stewards.

There was enough money invested in security, stewards & police to manage 2000 fans, they f***ed up.

Some fans are bellends but they can only bellend if managed poorly.

^^^^ this. BHA clearly panicked, made a knee jerk decision (which the Police tried to overturn) and then sending out sketchy statement to justify the fact they f***ed up and bottled the whole thing.

All that however DOESNT excuse the 30 or so that got in by rushing a turnstile, which will now mean they'll likely try it again somewhere else.

I can confirm, as I posted from the scene last night, that a Palace steward was hospitalised last night as informed to me by a uniformed Palace steward in CPFC hi-vis steward's uniform. I doubt he would have "spun" that statement. As for the rest, well we have to wait and see. Whether it was the HF or people impersonating HF in all black/faces covered etc we may never know, but the steward I spoke to was very clear to me that it was HF and he recognised some of them (who may well be on the end of bans as a result). It wasn't all HF, just a few mindless loons at the lower end of the age and brain cell scale. It's 2017 FFS and this still happens

I left the game unaware of all that had been going on, apart from the flares, etc., in the ground and masked and hooded young men leaving together and apparently prepared for 'something'. Officials seemed to have assumed something would kick off, and we were all held back for nearly an hour, first in the ground, then at the station.
My friend and I had got the train from Lewes and needed to get back there to our cars. It was a challenge to get into the line for the correct train, as we were all being herded in one direction. Police and stewards, determined to keep fans apart, ended up putting a group of us between two groups of Brighton fans queuing for the train. This looked like producing exactly the trouble they'd been keen to avoid (and a sergeant admitted as much to me). Certainly tired and anxious fans from both clubs included many who were angry and all too ready to get angrier. The police, recognising the danger, I think, pulled away a barrier and guided our group of Palace fans out of this 'sandwich' and onto the platform.
Once on the platform, all attempts at segregation ended, and we crowded into a carriage full of Brighton fans; talk with them and the police on the train was relaxed and friendly, though there was sad reflection on the incidents which had so marred the occasion and spoiled everyone's day.
Lessons? The policing and stewarding of this game need some serious and careful scrutiny. Practice can't be right when it succeeds in making things worse (and 'producing' fans like me and those on the train - honest, responsible people enjoying a fierce rivalry - as hooligans). I'd like to think that there will be some kind of enquiry, and one that can aim to make recommendations for how best to steward and police this game in future.

A few questions need to be looked at by the sussex police and stadium management.
Did they have knowledge of where the HF or any large groups were prior to the match , if they did way didn’t they do more to get them to ground on time? Last time supporters were rounded up fairly early in Brighton and escorted to the ground. I’ve heard last night that those rounded up were taking on a circuitous route to the station, there has been trouble previously with other clubs when the police have marched supporters up Queens Road which is the busy main road down from the station, so that might have been the reason for the long route but did the benefits of taking the long route outweigh supporters arriving late.
If they didn’t have knowledge of there whereabouts why not? do they need to communicate more with police in Croydon if large groups are travelling down late.
Was the assumption that all the Palace supporters had tickets based on sound thinking? Could they have done more to check tickets earlier, maybe at the station when people get funnelled on the trains.
Just said on Sky sports that an emergency exit was opened by Palace suppurters and this was where some gained access. I’m not sure of the a validity of this but waiting to get out of the ground last night , a big shuttered door began to open I assumed this was to allow us out, only when I saw the riot police behind was aware that it was that I had been opened by a Palace supporter. So should access to the ground be potential controlled by supporters?
This isn’t to condone what happened but a minority of supporters of any club will cause trouble especially against a rival that’s a sad fact of football it will attract it’s share of idiots , the police are there to stop those idiots and ensure the non–idiots can get in, they failed to do this last night.

Wether Brighton f****d up or not, they f*****d up because so called palace 'supporters' turned up at the ground to cause trouble - no other reason they'd have turned up without tickets otherwise. Stewards didn't end up in hospital because Brighton f****d up, but because of the snall group of moronic idiots who follow our club.

Whatever happened last night I hope they don't expect Liverpool fans turning up on Saturday to all have tickets. Heaven forbid they try turning any scouse ticket holders away...or was it just that it was Palace?
Am not condoning the actions of a minority but I do wonder if the over reaction was because it was Palace.

I’d be bricking it if I had anything to do with putting the steward that needed up in hospital there. He’s certainly not to be messed with. Wish him a speedy recovery from whatever injury gems sustained.
