All this does is once again highlight the absurdity of not having a video ref. It is scandalous that this system is not already in place. We were robbed of 3 points by a cheat and his fine and ban after the event does nothing to alleviate that. At some stage the technology will come in.

Anthony Taylor is not covered in glory either way. From my viewpoint watching the incident on MOTD in real time it clearly looks like he dived from a camera up in the stands behind him. So if AT saw it like I did his competence is questionable at best.

What's more Niasse's comments to the effect that as he was in the box, felt contact on his upper body then it made sense to fall down as 'that's all I have to do' should render him bringing the game into disrepute.

At some stage the technology will come in. Yes, but the game changes with goals. The second half would have had Everton pressing and leaving gaps.

Yes, but the game changes with goals. The second half would have had Everton pressing and leaving gaps. The penalty was after just six minutes. Everton were shell-shocked from Mcarthur's opener and we could feasibly gone onto to comfortably increase the lead by HT.

The only ones to benefit from him being charged will be West Ham and Southampton as Everton will be weakened against them if he gets a ban. Kind of a double penalty for Palace really!! We suffer the consequences of the crime and our rivals benefit from the punishment given out.
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

Someone I spoke to today said it was deserving of an Oscar,BAFTA and an Emmy and there wasn't a great 'Degree of difficulty' about it. Probably sign Niasse in the January 'Window' !

I would think it fair to receive a red card for diving in the box. However, as the referee may not get it right (who would have thunk it?) he should give the player who he thinks dived a yellow and then if it is confirmed by the FA Panel afterwards increased to a red and a five match ban.

Good idea Slimey. I like the rugby system of "citing". The ref thinks there has been serious foul play but is not 100% sure. The matter is then looked at after the event. As everyone else is saying a 2 match ban for him is no compensation to Palace. His blatant cheating did undoubtedly affect the match result. Punishing him afterwards still leaves us shy of the 2 more points that we probably would have got.

just say goals scored from illegally won penalties or free kicks will he deducted based on post-match video evidence, and anyone identified as diving will also get a 2 game ban and be named as a cheat. Maybe players would go down just as easily but they'd have to quickly get up and tell refs it wasn't a pen. Players now are always anticipating contact in the box and have a nanosecond to calculate if it impeded them. if it did, then they can't afford for the ref not to notice -- hence the theatricals. but at the moment the punishment is insufficient.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
