Backing our team to loose is something I'll never get my head round. Plenty of teams to bet on if you want to bet, but why would you bet against you're own team.. Palace have a history of taking down the big guns, the odds are great for us. Why bet against us? The money soothes the pain? Blood money and i wouldn't know what to do with it. Surely you'd rather back us the underdog at far better odds ? Anyway each to their own, I'll never understand a 'fan' betting against their team though.

I've been placing lay bets on Palace for every league game this season and am (obviously) quids in. My logic in doing so is that if the boys win, I won't care about losing the bet, but when they don't win at least there's some monetary compensation. I will be doing so again today. Last time I looked the price for a lay bet on Palace was 8.2. This means if you stake £10 and Palace lose or draw, you win £10 less commission. If they win, you would lose £72 (I think I've got that right haven't I, Michaela?) It actually surprises me how easy it is to get a lay bet on at all, given that 'the guy on the other side of the deal' is by definition backing Palace to win. Away to Man Utd for example, with half a team - I don't think so! Your up side is £10 pounds if your own team looses and the down side if they win is a £72.00 loss. I'm actually not sure what part of that bet makes sense. You've basically a tenner on Chelsea at evens but with a huge downside if it doesn't come in. Dude no offense it's you're money, but even taking aside the fact you're betting against your team, thats a dumb bet to put on. No up side really to speak of and a huge down side. You've actually put a £72 bet on for Chelsea to win, with a return of £10. Anyway sorry no of my buisness to comment on you're betting patterns, its good to know you enjoyed the result. COYP

COYP No need to apologise. It may seem like a 'dumb bet', but by that logic every bookmaker who offers a punter odds against is also making a 'dumb bet' isn't he? (All I'm doing is putting myself up as a bookmaker taking bets on a Palace victory). What I didn't bore the HOLs with (any more than I already had done!) was that this is merely one part of my much wider betting exchange strategy. So yes - in isolation it may seem odd, but it isn't made in isolation. Perhaps I should have just made the more basic point (made by many HOLs before) that betting against Palace can be seen merely as an insurance policy. Just to correct one small point; the upside depends on a defeat or a draw, and not just on a defeat. "COME ON PALACE!!"
