I know they're pretty short on grey matter, but surely even they can't be so gullible as to believe that if they blatantly refuse to discuss the biggest political issue of the day at their annual Conference, the public won't see that it's because they're trying to hide the split in the Party. Politicians who treat the electorate like fools - as people like McDonnell have been doing today - do so at their peril. Those who introduced 'austerity' for no other reason than helping themselves along with their friends at the top table seem to have fleeced the ''gullible'' yet you seem far angrier when a party doesn't mention something that at this point in time will prove absolutely nothing.

Labour has not provided opposition on the issue of our times. Probably a majority do not want brexit now but labour does not represent them and there is no reason why they should vote labour in that case. Not credible in my view you can't just brush such an issue under the carpet. Played it 'cool' once too often.

Probably not a majority, I genuinely think a another referendum would result in another Brexit win.

As i posted earlier..............''Stagnating wages, a lack of affordable housing, high energy bills, pension reductions and the ever increasing reliance on credit are probably far higher on many peoples lists for the past few years, ie things that really matter......imo.'' You're one of many. Well done

Edited by nickgusset (25 Sep 2017 5.32pm) In the same way he usually does when he speaks in public - peddling half-truths and nonsense. Perhaps you didn't hear him on Today. And I notice that you haven't actually addressed the point I made, namely, that by pretending that failing to address one of the biggest issues of the day is quite normal practice at a conference he is treating us like fools. Countless others have done similar things - e.g., George Osborne, with his meticulously choreographed Project Fear.

I really have no idea where you're coming from. I'm not remotely angry, more a case of being mildly amused at the knots politicians tie themselves up in when they attempt to fool the public. I see that you think austerity was introduced for no reason. Ah, well.

I said it was introduced purely to profit the elite at the expense of the GULLIBLE majority, sadly you just can't/will never see it. Edited by .TUX. (25 Sep 2017 9.12pm)

I see that you think austerity was introduced for no reason. Ah, well. Why was it introduced then? Austerity, to my mind, is in place for 2 reasons: A) banks after 2008 needed liquidity to stave off insolvency. Governments bailed them out, pushing public debt through the roof for no returns, and leading to inevitable declines in public spending B) Public debt being at the level it was, and us following Maastricht regulations, we had to introduce a form of austerity as part of our membership agreement and as a deficit country. Had we not, we would've gone through a Greek style troika dealing. Austerity is the price we, the public, have been forced to pay for our taxes being robbed from us by the banks.
