I know they're pretty short on grey matter, but surely even they can't be so gullible as to believe that if they blatantly refuse to discuss the biggest political issue of the day at their annual Conference, the public won't see that it's because they're trying to hide the split in the Party. Politicians who treat the electorate like fools - as people like McDonnell have been doing today - do so at their peril.

Those who introduced 'austerity' for no other reason than helping themselves along with their friends at the top table seem to have fleeced the ''gullible'' yet you seem far angrier when a party doesn't mention something that at this point in time will prove absolutely nothing.
That's just weird.

Labour has not provided opposition on the issue of our times.

Probably a majority do not want brexit now but labour does not represent them and there is no reason why they should vote labour in that case.

Not credible in my view you can't just brush such an issue under the carpet.

Played it 'cool' once too often.

They can vote Lib Dem - the lapdogs of the EU. Probably not a majority, I genuinely think a another referendum would result in another Brexit win.

As i posted earlier..............''Stagnating wages, a lack of affordable housing, high energy bills, pension reductions and the ever increasing reliance on credit are probably far higher on many peoples lists for the past few years, ie things that really matter......imo.''
This has happened while being in the EU.......yet you failed to reply (along with many others) to the facts for, cough cough, some reason?
When you did finally reply you again ignored the fact of needless 'austerity' and the damage it has done to the (gullible) nation yet continue your rant at Labour for not mentioning Brexit. A 'Brexit' where everything is in the air atm due to those currently in power.
Gullible people are why we find ourselves in this situation today.

You're one of many. Well done

In the same way he usually does when he speaks in public - peddling half-truths and nonsense. Perhaps you didn't hear him on Today. And I notice that you haven't actually addressed the point I made, namely, that by pretending that failing to address one of the biggest issues of the day is quite normal practice at a conference he is treating us like fools. Countless others have done similar things - e.g., George Osborne, with his meticulously choreographed Project Fear.

I really have no idea where you're coming from. I'm not remotely angry, more a case of being mildly amused at the knots politicians tie themselves up in when they attempt to fool the public.

I see that you think austerity was introduced for no reason. Ah, well.

What would have happened if brexit got a full debate and vote? They are not party to negotiations with those in the EU so everything would be based on second guessing. We don't even know where we are with Brexit at the moment. All it would do is possibly show a split and provide ample ammunition for the right wing press to get their teeth into which in this stage of the electoral cycle would be political suicide.
There are other issues that will appeal to voters more than Brexit. Stuff that affects their everyday lives. That's why they are focussing on that.

I said it was introduced purely to profit the elite at the expense of the GULLIBLE majority, sadly you just can't/will never see it.
Ah, well.

Why was it introduced then?

Austerity, to my mind, is in place for 2 reasons:

A) banks after 2008 needed liquidity to stave off insolvency. Governments bailed them out, pushing public debt through the roof for no returns, and leading to inevitable declines in public spending

B) Public debt being at the level it was, and us following Maastricht regulations, we had to introduce a form of austerity as part of our membership agreement and as a deficit country. Had we not, we would've gone through a Greek style troika dealing.

Austerity is the price we, the public, have been forced to pay for our taxes being robbed from us by the banks.
