If/when he gets sacked, who would you like to replace him with?

Frank was behind my original list of

Silva depending on his plans in interview. Didn't make enough or any effort there. Should've delayed 1 of 7 holidays and flown back rather than tell him to fly to Spain. He was in demand after all.

Pellegrino was well worth an interview.

Dyche.

Now it's harder because they're all performing after starting new jobs and Dyche won't leave.

We're probably left with Hodgson or maybe even Bilic. If we want an impact manager with lots of passion and inspiration then he might be the man.

Apart from them and Allardyce there's no one else with prem experience out there. Parish ignored both of the 2 we could've got to try and wind the clock forward to Frank, only Frank wanted to put a turbo motor in the clock.

Still time for Frank to succeed. Use the squad and Sammy properly and responsibly and he could. So far he hasn't.

Interested to see whether he plays a back 3 or back 4 against Burnley.

They would have conducted an in-depth tactical analysis of how Burnley play and at the end of the day FDB will decide which formation to play in the best interests of the team.Doubt if he will be swayed by those urging him to play differently.

I get your point again. Picking a team that can switch would be the best idea if 3 at the back is his thinking, but to do that he'd have to pick Townsend at RWB which makes us even weaker up top. The other solution is Schlupp at LWB and Riedewald CB and after the switch, Schlupp goes left midfield. Or you mess about moving Ward from RWB to LB which is not for me.

I understand your arguments.

What I was trying to say (Probably not very well !) is that FDB will make his decision based on what emerges from the tactical analysis and who is available to him and won't necessarily take heed of any siren voices telling him otherwise.

That said if in his mind it is a close run thing between a 3 or a 4 he might go with a 4 so if it doesn't work he might not come in for further vituperation as he would have done what the vast majority have wanted.Continue with a 3 and we come unstuck and one can only imagine the furore !

You talk about people being naive towards Frank. Just how would you describe his summer, definitely the Huddersfield game and the approach to the Swansea game?

Frank needed half a team minimum to play 3-4-3 and that's on top striker, keeper etc etc etc. It was a ridiculous idea that was supposed to be a plan b, not plan a and forget all about the other plan.

The mistakes happened because of the players and other players' positioning, therefore the formation that the players are not suited to and are out of position in. Ward all over the place, PVA too high up, confusion with marking and tracking over crosses from his or both wings.

He actually never ever said he was only going to play 3-4-3. He actually said 3-4-3, 4-3-3, and 4-5-1 will be the main ones so there are the others not mention to also consider. Also, Jimmy Mac has said in an interview, that I can not find anymore but was out there on the CPFC site. Where he said we are playing all and any formation that will win us a game. Which sounds to me a lot more like the Frank I know, than the rigid Frank you seem to project with zeal.

What you describe as bad position play, is strange if you are saying an experienced professional player like Ward was all over the place, cos he didn't know the difference between when we are transitioning from defense to attack and back to defence again, wow. I just call that unfit, and was undone time and again by faster players. The same goes for PVA to unfit/lazy to drop back when needed.

These guys have been playing soccer for the best part of their lives, I argue that they do and for their wages ought to know better, and is preposterous to suggest they have no idea about those formations and how to deal with transitions. This is yet another example of scapegoating, If they were any good why didn't any team even in the championship or the leagues below put in so much as an enquiry for them that the papers so quickly jump at, in the transfer window, we needed the money.

Gun Ho Direct football fanatics !!! have a view to suit their narrative.

What absolute garbage. Frank played all pre season 3-4-3 and 3 matches with 3 at the back, completely ignoring the limitations of ward, which you seem stubborn with too.

It's not just fitness. You tell me how good ward is with nobody to pass to on the outside?

You tell me why PVA hasn't turned out with the ball towards the touch line once this season?

You tell me why all of the CB's are rabbit in the headlights as a back 3, mistakes all over the shop and one on ones in both halves v Huddersfield.

You tell me why Luka is half the player he was in a 2 man midfield?

You tell me if Benteke isn't isolated?

You tell me if the play is so slow that every attack is v 11 behind the ball?

And the most laughable of all, you tell me why you think ward is going to be able to play as a wing back when his best football has been in a 4 when safety before attack is the main message? And ward is nearing the latter years of his career. Young legs, Spring chicken he isn't. Old dog and new tricks for a usual back 4 RB is what he is.

Frank didn't say only 3-4-3? Well he bl33ding well did, did he not?

Still time but it'll be to save his neck first. This pipe dream is months and possibly more Windows away.

Right on all counts mate

I don't understand the commitment to 3-4-3 when our squad clearly doesn't suit it and are used to 4-3-3. What's more De Boer played 4-3-3 throughout his time at Ajax, and had a fair amount of success with it.

I watched Arsenal play 3 at the back to Liverpool's 4.Liverpool gave their defenders problems in that Firmino dropped deep and in effect they has 2 'No 10s' and the Arsenal central defenders had nobody to mark causing confusion not least because they had to cope with runners from deep.Salah and Mane also went inside, allowing Liverpool's full-backs space to get into wide positions.

Tactical masterpiece by Klopp but some of the Arsenal players weren't committed to the cause and let their team down.

Kind of what my replies are to your prediction Frank may play 3 v Burnley's possible 2 strikers.

you're right, it said two on the radio this morning but other places are reporting 5. Surprised Man Utd voted against given how early they did their business. Maybe it's more about selling than buying.

Wasn't my prediction but he might deem that a 3 at the back against Burnley might be more advantageous for us if they play 2 up front.Burnley have had a tendency to play a 2-man strikeforce but not seen them or heard how they have setup this season. Our club with their analysis will know !
