To solve us to bridge the gap, unless we develop the ground or get a new site. We're always close to ffp because of the wages we pay. Your support the team because you want to see progression, yes this is 5 years in the prem but why are we constantly looking for firefighters to save another season. We should be past that by now but we're not. That's bottom line of it for me. The club gone as far as it can with Steve parish as chairman. Imo

I have supported Palace since 1961, of course I like to see them progress but that is definately not why I support them...it was in my family and were my local team, a concept that seems to have been lost over the years.

Do you honestly believe SP has not tried to improve the ground? Plans for sports centre rejected. Unfortunately we are based in a highly populated area with no sufficient land available, what do you want him to do? I know let's follow the Wimbledon model..can you imagine that? No no-one wants that.
SP has made mistakes I suspect he would admit that but to say he has a short term vision is wrong.

Look no one can have a go at SP for his sensible financial management, but also you can't say that this transfer window has been a blinding success. We needed an additional striker, a goalkeeper and a possibly a right wing back ,we've ended up with the central defender we all wanted but no one else. I think that's pretty poor especially considering we've been chasing a keeper for at least three years. I accept changing the manager doesn't help but neither does this fixation with playing beautiful football. Personally I don't care what kind of football we play as long as we are winning

Of course he has short term vision and your deluded yourself if you don't think that. A relegation is so costly to us with average players on big wages that how would we shift a mutch on 45k. The fact he changed manager so often tells of his short vision. Why has he constantly spent to survive basically every jan window. If that not short termism what is.

Why do folk keep banging this drum? Pulis was a liar & a conman & wanted out because he was after a job back near the family home.

Sam has made it quite clear he was both amazed and thankful for the support & trust he received form the club & the board. He and SP are still in touch & he even had a say in his replacement.

It's almost like people are deliberately looking to make a negative about almost everything that's happened in the last 7 years. We've come from the edge of non-existence to 5 years in the EPL. We have the best squad of players we've ever had, we're building the infrastructure behind the scenes & looking to improve every aspect of the Club.

There's no magic wand, there's no money tree & these things take time. Yeah, there'll be mistakes along the way and, yes, we'll have our ups and downs but we all need to play our part and continually sniping, bitching and booing helps nobody.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

What irks me is how poor we are at home. Regardless of the league we're in, it's tough to enjoy watching your team constantly get beat.

We've lost 23 of our last 40 home games . Gives us 41 points from 40. Really frustrating regardless of what is going on elsewhere.

We should be thankful we are in the prem, but not held hostage to it.

The reason why the boo's have come so early is that baring the miracle under fat sam, it's now well over 2 years of shocking football, whilst with the notion 'things will get better' - the past 3 games we look like we have gone backwards, thats why.

You can polish a car and stick on go faster stripes, doesn't hide the fact the transition is tonked.

Pulis lives in Dorset so West Brom is further away not closer

Hey I'm not saying faults haven't been made.

Why the hell we couldn't have signed a keeper and found some kind of forward option for the funds available even if limited and had these deals done.

Hugely frustrating but I look at the first XI and it is stronger than the season before, although two of those players we don't own so that's potential issue down the road.

£30m was spent in Jan which was to sort out our defence after what I'd say was the damage inflicted by our previous manager.

That's a huge amount of money for a Jan window and it's shouldn't be brushed aside. We all knew money would be tighter this summer becuase of it.

Have we struggled signing squad players, everyone wants so much... squad players are on stupid money themselves so it's likely not as simple as we think.

I'm hugely pleased with the Sakho signing and hope it's just what the team needs to get some form back.

But as always things can be looked at two ways...

Great starting XI best in years. With a couple players still needed for a balanced squad.

Or it could be said:

Shocking window were an injury away from being relegated.

Glass half full or half empty.

Truth is as always somewhere in between.

Apologies if I've snapped at anyone just I don't think it's as gloomy as it appears it others. At least I HOPE not.

COYP

Good post.
Agree regarding the starting eleven. I thought for this season,we needed
Keeper=didn't get one, gutted
Right back=got the one from Man Utd (if FDB plays him there) , looks a better player than ward
Centre back =Sakho, great signing. The one from Ajax, haven't seen enough of him yet
Central midfielder/number 10=Loftus Cheek looks decent and will hopefully allow Cabaye to push forward , as long as JP is on the bench
Striker= didn't get one , gutted, hopefully Benteke stays fit/doesn't get banned.

So we have addressed (a couple only temporarily) 3 of our 5 weakest positions.
If we do similar in January then we are heading in the right direction.
Also really happy that we are no longer a 'selling club', to get a few decent ones in and lose no one that we wanted to keep is a massive positive.

I personally think SP is great and like anybody... Can make mistakes with the best intentions. Reading this forum is painful sometimes as people pin everything on a guy (SP) who wants the best for this club and isn't trying to sabotage everything that this club is great for. I think we will survive this season and as SP has stated, there is money to get some signings in the summer as we missed out on a few. FDB I hope turns it around but if he doesn't I'm just hoping we have a manager who will stay around for more than half a season.

Thanks for the compliment. As I previously said SP has made mistakes and would probably admit that but you cannot blame him for Pulis walking out (whatever some on here think) nor did he have any control on SA wanting to retire. In my opinion he has a long term vision for the club but for a number of reasons, some beyond his control, it is proving more difficult than expected. If this opinion makes me deluded in your eyes then so be it...but remember just because some people dont share your opinions it does not make them deluded

Nobody knows that although many are happy to present their speculation as fact
