Yeah, all Freedman and nothing to do with scouts or agents pimping out their players. Freedman is bloody great! Can't understand why he hasn't been appointed chief scout at another club... You could say that about any manager in the football league. They will all have a wealth of supposed talent suggested to them one way or another, but the skill is sorting the gold from the iron pyrites. If Freedman is able to successfully shortlist the most promising for FdB's perusal, he will be doing a good job. If he can complete a deal, within budget, quicker than SP, he'll be doing a brilliant job. No one has any idea what he can do in this post, at this level, so it's probably best to let him get on with it and see how it goes. I can't see how we have anything to lose.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I have no idea as to what are his 'Terms of reference' indeed 'Sporting Director' can mean different things at different clubs - there is no template for such a role. Let's see how he gets on.What many on here fear is that if FDB fails, Freedman will be handed the reins - my goodness HOL will be awash with hysterical and investive rhetoric with opprobrium flying like a grit-studded snowball. I do admit to being slightly underwhelmed by Freedman's appointment, but that was mainly due to so many people thinking he is a ready made replacement for FdB. I am, however, pleased that we have at last filled this position with a "football" person, so that the many cock ups of this summer (ie no contingency for Allardyce leaving, inadequate pre-season etc) should not be repeated, and Parish can spend his time doing his proper job and not trying to involve himself in football matters that he clearly does not fully comprehend.

Allardyce has himself confirmed that he made the decision to leave before the Hull game (which was on May 14) and, therefore had nothing whatsoever to do with the Manchester atrocity. It's better not to repeat fake news and to instead stick to the facts:

Maybe, but this part of the article is purely clarifying what one is/does as many seemed to be questioning the point of one as much as who we've hired. It did go on to say that only time will tell if it/Dougie was the right decision for us.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |
