If we lose but give it a good go, create chances and are slightly competitive then I won't mind too much. If we look lost lost, players caught out of position, no attacking threat and a lack of hunger and competitiveness then I will be on here questioning the manager and team.

I was there, as I was for the couple of games we conceeded 5 against them over the following seasons...fortunately i'm not going this time. I Me too, I went Anfield 3 times in that era and see us let in 17 goals and haven't been back since!! Good luck to those going this weekend, but the result might haunt them for the rest of their lives

Suckling was gone after that and we spent £1 million on Martyn. Not sure if I want a repeat of the score line but I'd take a Nigel Martyn quality keeper in goals. I'd have Nigel Martin back NOW!! He's only 51, probably still more agile than Wayne

Liverpool 2 Palace 0. We are overdue a defeat at Anfield. Our defence goes into meltdown under pressure and we won't have Wilf as an outlet and we are not organised enough using the new system to release the pressure. Without Wilf the number of chances we create or corners/free kicks we earn will be halved....hence nil. I won't be upset if we lose if we actually make some progress.

Just seen de Boer's pre-match presser. ""Liverpool have fantastic players. It will be a very strong team that they put out. They are very dangerous in attack. Jurgen Klopp has selected the players to capitalise on winning the ball in key areas. "The strength of this club is in the fans being supportive of the team. They understand things won't change in one day." That's fighting talk. Not.

On the way home I did a pretend 'suddenly wake up from a bad dream routine' saying "Oh God! I just dreamt I was on a coach coming back from seeing Palace lose ten-nil at Anfield. Thank f*ck it was only a dream!" OK, you probably had to be there!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

I'm going Saturday, been to Anfield a few times, went last season too, seen some wins and some some losses.. think we might sneak a 2-2 this time.. but if our fans do what they do best and get behind the team it could make all the difference and who knows.. last year the bin-dippers started sneaking out soon after we'd scored our second, there was still 15-20mins to go and our support was relentless.. so maybe FDB is just saying our support is like that 12th man..
