Either way, it's one example amongst many of good business being done at the end of the window. Agreed, everyone knows early buisness is best just doesn't always work out that way. Everyone is struggling to get deals done without paying hyper inflated prices. We seem to be making great transfers tho slower than wanted. Patience palace are on the up ! A quality manager, three quality additions to the squad, the best pre-season I can recall & players looking fitter than any time under Pardew. Yep, underprepared.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Lets not forget Wilfs new contract was wrapped up very early, which sent out a message of intent that we're not a selling club and we're trying to build and can keep hold of our most valuable players. Not a sniff from Tottenham since.

The great things that steve parish and the board have done for our club has been exceptional but the fact remains we have one fit striker heading into our first game of the season on Saturday. We have not a prem standard goalkeeper according to many. Potentially starting a defensive midfielder at cb because of lack of signings. Not adequate right back cover. This has become a regular occurrence especially under Steve parish stewardship. I understand the window doesn't close until the end of the month. Anyone else feel these frustrations ? Edited by CPFC/SCCC (09 Aug 2017 10.22am) Because signing players is so f*cking easy isn't it. If you think it is and you know best, why don't you try and run the club yourself?

We're short in certain positions, but there is still time. It's frustrating but there must be logic behind how the club operates. Perhaps they know that towards the end of the window clubs are more likely to offload, reducing expenditure. We're being run by very smart business minds. The 3 signings we have got appear to be very astute and I would expect more of the same over the next couple of weeks. We won't leave ourselves with just 1 striker, that would be suicidal, and I expect at least 3/4 more signings including a loan. There will be inconsistency as we get to know the system but we need to get behind it because we cannot continue to be a backs against the wall team, look what happened to Sunderland, it eventually bit them on the backside. We need to progress and I have faith that the set up we have now will allow us to do so.

If my thinking is correct, when FDB was appointed there was talk in the media of Veltman and Tete from Ajax, Rami of Seville, even Van Persie etc etc which set a certain expectation regards our possible acquisitions.FDB was going to attract some established players ! Thus far we have signed a squad player from Ajax and another squad player from Chelsea on 'Loan' (No criticism of them from me) but some supporters expected better. Add into the mix Puncheon being appointed captain on the back of unimpressive performances and no backup for Benteke and all-in-all certain fans feel that we are not best placed going into the season hence a degree of negativity. For avoidance of doubt, all I am doing is trying to offer an explanation that's all. Why not give us your opinion then instead of telling us what others are thinking and why?
